Opprettowsuie.—On Monday evening last a Rebekah Lodge, in connection with Prince Wdward Lodge No. 22,1.0.0.F., wus instituted in Summerside, and yester- day a deputation from Alpha Rebekah Lodge, of this city, went up by special train and conferred the Rebekah degree upon all who were eligible for membership. The name of the new lodge is Maple Leaf. The ladies and gentlemen of the order who went up from Charlottetown speak in the highest terms of their treatment while in the western capital. ‘Ihe special was in charge of Conductor Gillis,and the railway arrangements were well carr.ed out.

How’ long. The traffic on Southport Ferry ‘today presents a doleful picture of hardship and inconvenience. The steamer Hil!sborough is plying coastantly from side to side but cannot carry half tne passengers and freight wanting to come to the city. When this steamer left South- port side this forenoon, as crowded ae her capacity would warrant, there were left behind some 50 vebicles laden with pro- dace for the market, aud before the steamer would return for those thus wait- ing the market prices woul be weakening and,with bad roads and still worse crossing accommodations, the farming community left to reap disappointment at the hands of the governing power.
