THE NOVA SCOTIA EXHIBITION.

Big List of Attractions in Connec- tion.

The advertisement of the Provincial Exhibition at Halifax to be held from Sept. 23rd to 50th inclusive, appears in our advertising colume of this issue.

The prize list bas been issued and may be had by dropping a posial card to the Secretary. In shows ap increase in prizes of about one thousand dollare, principally in the departments of cattle, sheep, poul try, agricultural products and fish. The prizes for grade cattle has been much in- creazed, and the classes resubdivided as in the exhibtion of 1897. A number of changes Lave been made on the grounds, which wi!!] be conducive io the conveuience of the public. Tbe man entrance has been changed to within easy distance of the cars, Ao exit will be provided so that the people may leave the srouads direct from the grand stand afier the performance afiernoon and evening, thus avoiding the congestion and crowding of previous years. The grounds have beeo laid out in cinder welks leading to all the buildings. In view of the large exhibit of poultry last year, tbe commis- sion have felt the necessity of a new building, which ig now in course of con- struction. It will embody the moxt modera ideas, and be provided with the very best appliances and facilities for a large display of poultry. The building will contain over two hundred and fifty coops, and wii! alsc have accommodation jur the displ»y ofcanaries, parrots and pet stock. By means of a monitor rvof lots of lizht is ef torded with no drafts.

The special attractions will be well up to their usual standard of excellence. Con- tracts bave already been closed with a number of the specialties, including baloon ascensions every day, aud the appearance of the guideless pacer, “ Tommy” who is turned loose on the track, and paces a mile in 2.07} without a driver.
