MR. ROBERT OSBORNE MIcLEOD

An outstanding citizen of Long River has gone to his eternal re- ward. ln the passing. on Wednes~ day, Dec. Nth, i948. of Robert Osborne MacLeod. ln his 73rd year. He had become aware of’ a heart condition several years ago, and since that limo had suffered seri- ous lllncsses, only conquered by his indomitable spirit. In the last months. his condition had declin~ ed steadily. and a! last, his gallant spirit was free of iis earthly limita~ tions.

He was a Presbyterian. until the advent. of tllurch union. when he became a loyal supporter of the United Church oi Canada. In politics. he was a staunch Liberal and has long br-s-n recognized as a bulwark of thc party.

As a younger man. lie uns noted for his strength and endurance. and in addition to his manifold duties, as one of the best farmers of the district. he. at various times. carried out many other tasks and many limos. lcni. a helping hand, to those in iier-d. - He was a sori oi.,ilir lain Mr. and Mrs. Gordon MacLeod, oi Long River. a mémbcr of a family of five, two brollibrs and one sister. livc at Long River, Chester, Nelson and Lucy.
