OCTOBER 4: The first meeting of the Natural History Society's fall season takes place at 8:00 p.m. at the Farm Centre on Univer-

Avenue in Charlottetown. David DeMules of the Vermont Nature Conservancy will be the guest speaker. A good chance to swap stories with members who haven't seen each other since May.

Sometime during the first two weeks of October, Mr. DeMules will also give a workshop in conjunction with the Island Nature Trust on Natural Area Protection. More information will be available at the October meeting, or by calling the Nature Trust's office (566-9150 or 892-7513).

NOVEMBER 1: Bob Bancroft, a regular on CBC's Radio Noon show, will be the guest speaker at the November NHS meeting. Mr. Bancroft is with the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests and has a very entertaining weekly slot on Radio Noon where he talks on everything from hummingbirds to spring peepers.

DECEMBER 6: The December meeting of the NHS will give us a chance to see one or two (depending on time) of the fine natural history videos that have recently been done. We're hoping to have one on South Moresby. As usual, the meeting begins at 8:00 p.m. at the Farm Centre.

JANUARY 3: The January meeting will bring in a new executive, so make the extra effort to be there. Professor Earl Wonnacott of U.P.E.I. will be speaking on astronomy.

FEBRUARY 7: Wade MacKinnon, a forest technician, will give NHS members an update of the work he and others are doing with the Montague Watershed Management program.

JUNE 11-14: The Canadian Nature Federation's annual conference will be hosted in Charlottetown by the Natural History Society and the Island Nature Trust. OCTOBER 16 FIELD TRIP TO SEE GANNETS AT EAST POINT! A great place to see gannets and seabirds. The lighthouse at East Point north of Souris is breezy and usually cool, so bring warm, waterproof clothing and a snack. Members will meet at East Point at 1:00, or can probaby car pool from Charlottetown or Montague areas. Please let us know if you are interested.
