The Island government, through the Industrial Development Board co-operated in seeing the process- ing plant constructed after some years planning for the pro- ject. The Department of Agri- culture lent fuli support in mak- ing field: tests of the crops which were to be processed.’

The construction of the plant was started in May 1957. Situa- ted at.Sherwood, a short. distance from the Brackley Point Road, it is fully equipped for automatic operation.
