SENTENCED T0 DORCHESTER -Fred Weeks. City. was sentenced to two years ill Dorcllester penit- entiary when he appeared before Magistrate Martin in City Police Court yesterday morning. He was convicted on a charge of breaking and entering and theft of goods from Kays Dry Good Store on Richmond Street. The offence oc- curred on the night of Dmmber 29th. Two drunk and incnpables were fined :10 and costs or 10 days and another was sent to jail for 10 days. A remanded drunken driv- er was further remanded until the 13th.

ladies' Aid : P.E.l. Hospital p Annual Meeting

The comhineci monthly and an- lluai meeting of the Ladiea' Aid of the Prince Edward Island Hos- pital was held at the Cundall Home on Monday, January 4th Thirty-three members were pres- eilt.

The president. Mrs. Gordon Avard prealded. and extended a welcome to the meeting to Mrs. T. A. Laid-law. president of the Junior Aid and other members of the executive. .

Minutes of the previous month- ly and annual meetings were read by the secretary and adopted.

Plans were discussed for the tur- key supper to be held in Illebruory in Heart: Hall and tickets were distributed.

The members of the decorating committee for the Christmas trays were thanked by the president for the artistic and original decora- tions they had made in order to make Christmas brighter for the patients at the hospital. This oom- mlttee consisted of Mrs. G. E. Harilen. Mrs. P. A. S. Jones. Mrs E. K, MacNutt. Mrs. W. T. Rogers and Mrs. J. D. Stewart.

The treasurer, Mrs. G. H. Bun- ialn, in her monthly report show- ed a substantial balance. Mrs. W. T. Rogers reported for the buying

committee and Mrs. Vannusklrk on the Gift Cabinet at the hos- pltal.

The president. Mrs. Gordon Av- ard. in presenting her annual re- port, reviewed the activities of the past. year. Eight meetings were held and several new members were welcomed to the Aid. Mrs Avard reviewed each project un- dertaken by the Aid and stated it had been a most successful year. Tile president thanked the mem- bers of the Aid for their splendid support throughout her term of office.

Animal reports were also pre- sented by the treasurer. Mrs. G. H. Buntaln and by Mrs. R.H. Bar- rctt, corresponding secretary.

The nominating committee's re- port was presented by s. N. H. DeBlois, and the following is the list of officers and committees for 1954:

In Queen's County Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Gilbert A. Gaudet, a resident of Harring- ton and a resident of Union Road each pleaded guilty of contribut- ing to the juvenile deliquency of a 15 year old girl and each was fined :60 and costs or 60 days.

A resident of Avondale found guilty of having a still in his possession was fined two and costs or three months in jail. For failing to file an income tax re- turn, a. resident of Victoria was sentenced to pay 55 and costs or 30 days in jail. A resident of Kelly's Cross was sentenced to a fine of 320 or 30 days for having liquor in a place other than his residence. .

A resident of Charlottetown found guilty of leaving the scene of an accident at East Royalty was fined 525 and costs or 30 days. A resident of Grand Trac- adie found guilty of being in- toxlcated in it public place at Parkdale was fined 325 and costs or 30 days. A resident of Brook- fleld found guilty under the Fed- lers Act was fined 310 and costs or 1) days. For operating a motor vehicle without first having ub- iained a license to do so, a resi- dent of North River was fined 55 and costs or 10 days.

Weelt of Prayer at Service At Zion

The third in the. series of ser- vices ln connection with the local observance of the Universal Week of Prayer was held in Zion Pres- byterian Church last evening with I. large congregation in attend- ance. The service was oonducted by Rev. T. H. 3. Barriers, and Can- on J. T. libbott read the scriptuite lesson. The speaker for the ser- vice was Rev. E.C. Evans who took as his subject "Faith and Vision". speaking from the text in Isaiah "Thine eyes shall see the King in his beauty; they shall be- hold the land that is very far off."

The speaker said that every real- ity is first an idea. With faith and vision, ideas can become re- alities.. All the great accomplish- ments in the world were brought about by men who had faith, but also vision. b

A new year can, become a great year for everyone who faith and has vision, and trusting in God, the never-changing real- ity, we can behold the land afar off, can have visions of what we desire, and make them actual by acting with faith and vision.

The full choir under Mr. Frank Johnston was presented, and ren- dered the anthem "Heavenly Light".

The service tonight will be in Trinity Church, and Rev. Canon J. T. Ibbott will preach.
