From ACT. A.C.T. stands for "Adult Christian Thinking".

The ACT Committee on

the U.P.E.I. campus

is a loosly organized group working under

the rather vague umbrella of the Newman Association, a national organization of Canadian university students.

The purpose of the Committee is to help in little ways to strenthen Christian community on campus-- to encourage a type of thinking and acting which, hopefully,will lead to the deeper appreciation of Christian values among university undergrads.

One of the main functions of the committee is the

promotion of the two ACT weekends during the course of the school year (one in early October and one in late Janurary). These weekends are designed to enable studentsto take an adult look at their Christian faith—- to realize that this faith is relevant

in the modern adult world and can hold its own'With all the "ologies" encountered in the uniiersity curriculum.

Because of its origin in a movement begun in Spain (El Cursillo—-) the ACT weekend has a kind of Catholic flavour. The subject matter of teh disscussions throughout the weekend

however,is such as th be of real value to

any Christian or to anyone who suspects that Christ might have something to say to him' aboutthe meaning and purpose of life. The first ACT weekend (Oct. 1,2,3,) could be for you the most it@ important weekend of your year.

Adult thinking with- out adult action is sterile. For this reason, the ACT committee of Newman

of projects in the commmnity at large: help to slow learners and students with learning disabilities at one of the local elementary schools

and visits to unvisited elderly people in the Senior Citizens' Homes ' in the community.

ACT is interested in working in conjunction with any other group

on campus seeking tor better university life andthe community at large.

What ACT seeks to be is simply a Christian presence. on campus. Could be that in one way or another from time to time you might wish to associate yourself with one or another of the ACT projects or to drop by for a bull-session at one of the ACT reunions. If so, WELCOME. The more ACT~ors, the bigger the play. ‘

be on the top of the heap. Helping the coaching we have Bill Simmons, who starred for us for three years before transferring to U.N.B for his final year of eligibility. Last ' year he was a late cut from the Montreal Alouettes.
