By 1892 many families had moved in, Langdon school dis- trict 220 was set up and the Canadian Agricultural, Coal and Colonization Co. had taken up séveral thousand acres af land along the CPR line.

The first store, Roy Cowen's Bar-X-Bar, opened two years later. A 1910 photograph in the Ken W. Taylor collection shows its replacement bearing the sign: “Headquarters for mer- chandise.”

But by 1918 Langdon was re- duced to @ shell, The typhoid epidemic was followed in 1918 by an influenza epidemic. Houses began to be moved away.

By the end of the Second World War, the blacksmith shop and garage had closed. Then

the hardware store disappeared. .

Now there is only a general store and post office.
