Sometimes it wasn't always spring. but the tall- and of winter when the sap began to run.

All winter long the sap of the maple trees is stared down in the roots in theiground. With the first mild weather toward spring it be- gins to go up in the trees clear In the lip-top and out through every tiny twig. it does this on warm days and then goes down back again when the nights are cold.
