Mass., who will reside in the vicinity of Char- lottetown were tendered a farewell party by the Penny Bag Club of the Cambridge Church of soot- land at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Wilbur. 89A Prescott Street, Somerville, when over 150 friends from Quincy, Lexington, Lynnfield. Allston, Woburn and Lowell of Massachusetts were present. also from New Haven and Charlotte- town.

The rooms were artistically de- corated for the occasion with pink and white streamers and bouquets of autumn flowers. The guests of honour were escorted to two spec- inlly trimmed chairs by Mrs. Graustina and Mr. and Mrs. Gor- don Beers. Rev. Albert. D. C. Mc- lllrny of Brookline spoke of the high esteem in which the couple were held and expressed regret at their departure for Prince Edward Island.

The president. Mr. Brent Wood. then took charge of the meeting and introduced the leader. the Rev. Howard Christie of Hunter River United Church. Following 3. business period. and a brief re- cess, Mr. Christie showed a film strip. "The Child and the Bible". At the close of this meeting the delegates were Invited to the shurch school room, where a box lunch was served. The meal and the social hour which followed were enjoyed by all present.

The opening worship for the evening meeting was led by Mr. Christie. The Rev. W. G. Killam explained the work of the M. R. E. C. and asked for support for it. Mr. Christie showed a film strip. "The Story of Our Bible". and followed this with a true or false quiz and a short discussion.

The nominating committee pre- sented the slate of new officers as follows:

President. Mrs. Raymond Wood: vice-president. Mrs. John Hulam: secretary-treasurer, Florence Mab- ey; assistant secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Elmer Gamble.

Miss Louise Callback gave the report of the courtesy committee: "Resolved that the thanks of this convention be extended to Rev. Mr. Christie, for his fine leader- ship; to Rev. Mr. Britten and Rev. Mr. Crowe for their helpful mes- sages; to Rev. Mr. Kilian and the people of the Tryon Baptist Church for the use of tlkir building and their hospitality; and to all oth- ers who added to the effective- ness of the convention."

Mr. Crowe then gave an inspir- ing and scholarly address, his subject being ”How we got our English Bible", with special refer- ence to the Revised Standard Ver- sion.

The singing of hymn 182 brought a successful convention to a close.

The, first snow of the season fell early ' Monday morning, October 20th when everything was covered with is white blanket. until the sun came out and melted it away, giving the spud pickers a little rest. r

The October meeting of ladies of st. Ann Club was held on Tuesday evening, October 14th. at the home of Mrs. Robert Gallant with 14 membe s present. It was decided at this meeting to have a chicken supper at the home of Mrs. Leo Arsenault as well as the annual meeting.

Word has been received here that Theresa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Gallant. of Chelsea, Mass, was struck by a car right in front of her parents' house. when she and her girl friend were cross- ing the street. Both girls were hurt and are in hospital. Theresa suffered a broken ankle and lac- erations about the head.
