The Legislature meets on the 9th proximo. Dr. Slocumb, one of the Conservative M. P.s for Lunenbargh Co., it is waid, will not be able to attend this session in consequence of illness. The meeting is looked forward to with great interest, as may naturally be ex- pected.

Lhe Order of Good Templars is making rapid headway in this Province, and bids fair to supersede the Sons of Temperance organi- zation, which in Halifax city is generally considered as a gigantie humbug. so, with one sole object in view—the aggrandisement of some of the more influential members — eun-

] may state, in the first place, that Measrs “Spud” and “Callaghan,” in their incessant rav- ing and ranting on the scheme of Union, have been calling public meetings, vomiting forth frothy harangues, flinging filth at every one who bas the hardihood to oppose their views, and ar- togating to themselves powers and privileges which they never derived from God or man. In- deed, the subject on which they are thus presutn- ing to arbitrate, lies vastly beyond the grasp of their musty minds. Whew these self-constituted “luminaries” are asked whether there are any terms on which they°would approve of an Union of the B. N. A. Colouies, they unhesitatingly res- pond iu the affirmative, yet, strange to say, they vever preopound these terms.
