A Sumxnerside team skipped by C.G. Robinson won the .-‘second section of the Summerside Curling club bonsplel and the capitol Theatre trophy last night with a point total of 244, narrowly edging‘ out the Parsons team of the Am- herst Club who had amassed .242 points.

The personnell of the Summer- side team is as follows: Darius Hogg. Eric McKay. Albert Billi- phant, Chester G. Robinson, skip They are the first winners of the Capitol Theatre trophy which was presented to them last night by the president of the'Svummerside Curl- ing Cl-ub. Mr. J.K. Curran. The winner of this series will prob- ably have to play Charlottetown for the Island title. The Ken- sington and Summeraide\juven- iles will probably ﬁght it out for Prince County honors with odds on Kensington to win this round, and the winner will try conclus- ions with the smooth Abegweit team from_ Charlottetown. We would be inclined to give the Abbies a very slight edge on this series, but think the Kensing- ion lads might come through.

We were rather surprised to notice that a Kensington hockey fan got rather UIPSCI. because the Charlottetown scribe referred to Kensington‘s 7 to 4 win over the Abbies as an "upset" victory. Per- sonally. if we were coaching or even backing a team. we'd be tickled pink every time a morts writer called a win by our team an “upsei" victory. Scoring “up- set" victories is what adds spice and thrills to all kinds of compe- titive sporis. If our team is ex- pected to win and , does, well, that‘: good. but not very excit- ing. Iit's when the underdog snarls his way to an “upsei." vic- tory that we really get a thrill.

Furthermore. Kensingion lads’ 'l to 4 win over the Albegwelis was an upset victory. Kenslng- ion did not have ice until well into the second week in January. while the juveni-le Arbbies were skating and practising hockey long before Christmas. Kensing- ton had very few boys to pick from as compared to the Abeg- weits who had a much larger group from which to choose their team. The Abbies have been hailed as the sirongut juvenile team to come out of Charlotte- town in some years and we be- lieve they are. Yet. in spite of all this, those chipper young ‘sprouts from Kensington proceed to beat the Charlottetown blue-bloods by a margin of three goals! Upset victory?
