Your criticism is entirely unjustified and, I believe, the success of many events and activities can be, at least, partially, attributed to her "behind the scenes" actions. I assume you must be at G.J's quite a bit your— self or is that statement simply another unconfirmed runor? I would be interested-

to know who follows her around with the stopwatch to verify

how nudu time she spends at both the Barn & Jim's.

Neil MacKenzie seens to have been overlooked by your editorial . This could be an easily made mistakesincehecanbeahard person to find at the best of tines. However, he did cone up with a new bartending policy and certainly must have con- tributed sonething to the running of the Barn. However, I do feel that nore effort could have been exerted on his part.

As for Brownie, well you said it all.. .He does what he feels is best and does it his way—with a bang-— Unfortunately, the co— Operation did not seem to be there and it seems he had to be involved with alnost every little thing that went on. He certainly deserves more credit than he will ever receive for his ' efforts this past year.

I know, this letter could have been a book. However,

I do not believe that the situation was accurately represented by your edi— torial and felt the actual facts should be re» vealed to your readers. Criticism is great, but never before have I read one based on unconfirned runors. ‘ ‘

As a menber of Student Cbuncil and an ex-enplcyee ' of the Barn, I was quite upset when I read your "cut—down" 'of the Council and the Executive in your Editorial column of last week's paper. .

To begin, I don't agree with you that only once. and a while you hit a well-run and interesting council meeting. really come down on us council members, saying that we "attenpt to outdo each other in verbosity and tactlesness." This is sinply nottrue. We represent the student body, and when issues are pre- sented we nust voice our opinions, and 99% of the time not all of us agree. This creates discussion, which is essential in order to solve the issue

at hand, in the best possible

way. As for the executive

evaluation; yes, to the "un- e" this may be the way it looks; but for someone

trained

like myself, who worked at theBarn 3 days aweek last

semester (and dropped in the ether 2 days) this is defin—

itely not the way it is.

Philip Brown is an excellen'

President, but the rest of

the Executive did a good job

too.‘ let's face it, ead‘: executive position re

quires a different anount of

time and energy. The Pres oversees all, so therefore nust spend the nest tine at the Barn. Granted

, John (T.W.) deleer did a

good job as Treasurer,

but I don't think it

was fair to say that next year's Treasurer, Bruce Hickey, will have a hard tine filling his shoes.

We should be giving Bruce our encouragement and 7 support, not telling him he is going to "have a

She nay go to Gentlenen Jim's but I cbn't see what that has to do with herbeing Vice- President of Student Union. It strikes me funny that at the end of your article you 'say that Fallfest, Winter Carnival, Orientation, and Social Oomnittee Chairpersons did a good job—Miss Parlee isin chargeof all these sub-cannittees. From Sue Parlee's re-election as Vice—President Internal for next year it is quite evident that nest of the students on this canpus don't feel the sane Way you do: that Sue is a better socialite, than

"socializing" doesn't in- terfere with her job, does it Ms. Hartman? Also, I would like to ask, who volunteers to/help you work on the SUN (11 'Iuesday nights when she doesn't have to,

but does because she is interested in it? ( I believe it is Sue Parlee).

You are entitled to your views, and freedom of the press etc., but I don't think such a harsh attack on our executive and council was really necessary. I think they all did a terrific . job, and next year's ' executive will do I just‘as 'well. ’

Regarding your editorial of last week‘s SEE:

Before I begin,‘I wOuld like to ask those of you who read this letter not to disregard it as being biased because I am a personal friend of Susan Parlee. I write this be- cause I know how well Susan does her job. Firstly, I am shocked and appalled that anyone would slander our Vice Presi— dent as was done. ‘Having spent a great amount of time at the Barn, through Winter Carnival and Stud- ent Council, I can safely say that Susan is always ready to help in any pro- ject or problem which may arise. She keeps her hours at the Barn; she has ddne her best to dp all lb can during her term in of- fice. Anyone actively in- volved in the Student Unio can see that Susan has‘don more than her share of the work this year. ,(No crit—
