Shelter disgusting
Dear Editor:
It has come to my attention that the Federal Government has offered $2 Million for the making of a fall-out shelter, with the basement of the Vet College as its intended locale.
Personally, I find this whole proposal disgusting.
My main objection is to the formation and acceptance of such an idea. This proposal
seems tobe a guarantee of I V
some form of future nuclear war, which should be offen— sive to all people and not just myself.
If this proposal is to be proceeded upon then many more objections arise; such as the select few for whom this fall-out shelter would be
' intended.
Who is given the right to choose who should survive?
What qualities make one person preferable to another?
All human life is sacred, and no man can justly decide who shall be killed or that any human should be killed at all.
A side note to this fall-out shelter issue is Dean Reg Thompson’s added prosposal of a new cafeteria for U.P.E.I. to be located in this fall-out shelter.
The atmosphere for such a room could only be de- pressing.
Also, what would happen at lunch time rush hour if the fall-out shelter was needed for its intended purpose? Would all students, faculty, and staff be herded out?
As I see the proposal, there will be $2 million spent on an unnecessary, unwanted fall-out shelter.
This is $2 million that could be spent absolutely anywhere else. Students are always complaining about government funding, and this seems to be a flagrant mis- direction of the allocation of government funds.
1 hope that students will band together in a serious attempt to stop this absurd building of a fall-out shelter.

Loved Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
Dear Editor,
My wife and I attended the opening night performance of Rosencrantz and Guilden- stern Are Dead presented on campus by the U.P.E.I. Theatre Society on March 14, and were most impressed by the quality of the production.
Those who were not in attendance at author Tom Stoppard’s play during its four day run truly missed out on a memorable experience.
The play, directed by David Moses, involving a completely student cast and crew, bases its appeal largely on the clever dialogue typical of the‘author.
In the hands of an amateur group, such a play stands an excellent chance of being a disaster unless it is delivered with style and insight under capable direction.
These necessary qualities
were very much in evidence.
The acting and interpre- tation were extremely well done, the production was imaginative, making full use of the exuberance of youth, and was delivered under obvious control of sound direction.
Involvement in such extra- curricular activities may not
reflect itself in academic credits, but is very much an important aspect of University life for those with the desire to participate.
The students involved in this latest production of the U.P.E.I. Theatre Society are a credit to this University, and a reminder that the benefits of their education
