Hairax, Mar. 14.—Capt. Barrett and the firet and second officers of the Castilian remained on the steamer. All the rest of the officers and crew are in Yarmouth.

The steamer has not yet been abandon- ed, but must be as ehe is now in bourly danger of breaking up.

Tog~boats brought up the cabin fiittings, piate, and othe: moveabies; but no attempt could be made to get the cargo.

The steamer will be a total loss and no cargo can be saved.

Most of the live stock sre still standing, though at times, the waiter is about their feet.

The tide rises and falls in the steamer from the engine room forward coming up as high as the main deck and she remains on firmly witnout pounding, bat she has a list which shows the danger of ber «lip- ping off into deep water.

There is noone on board now to attend to the livestock and they have practicelly been abandoned.

A tug remains by the steamer, and it is expected that the captain will leave her some time to-day.

There is no official statement yetas to the cause of the disaster, but it is believed that the compass was at fault,
