“The trouble with wives is that they do notknow the strain that their husbands live under, the hardships and anxieties and cares and wor- ries of carrying on a business. They do not dealize that a man would like to come home and boast a little of what he has accomplished and have his wife praise him for it or have her sympathize with him and, give him a bost when things go wrong.

“All they seem to want is the money their husbands can make for them and their children, and they take it. without thanks when they get it and complain when they fail to furnish them all they want. Why shouldn't a man cease to love the woman who regards him as a nothing ' but a. meal ticket?"

Another man says: "You ask-What do men want in wives? The answer is easy: Just a little return o n their investment. Show ma a. man who steps out and runs around and I will show you a man who has a iwife who is no good as a wife, who takes no trouble to try to please him 'or to entertain him or to make him happy. The man is expected to supply a nice home, car. clothes, servants, trips, etc., but this lovely wife doesn't think it is up to her to make any return for what she gets. It is the selfish wives who divs men to seek elsewhere the enjoyment which they are rightfully entitled to at home."

Still another man gives these rules for holding a husband: “Good nature. Good health. Good sportsmanship. Able to take a failure with a smile. Interest in husband's business and sympathy with his prob- lems. Willingness to entertain husbands friends. Being home and at. tractively dressed when friend husband comes home from the Ofiics at night. Make him feel at home in his own home. Let. him lounge in the ‘bedroom chair. Use the guest towels. Leave his razor alone. Sew on this buttons. Tease him good-natured ly. Don't mention worries at breakf tat. Laugh things ofi’. Kiss him when he deserves it and some. times when he doesn't. And don't throw up his faults to him."
