Italian music was played during the landing. Mrs. Herridge, sister of Premier R. B. Bennett, motored in four hours from St. Andrews to wel- come thc airmen. General Balbo is 37 years of age and is a man who does not like a. lot of fuss and ask- ed to have the banquet which had been prepared for him cut out. A very successful concert was given last evening in Heartz Mem- orial Hall by Mr. Arthur Holder, Barbados, Negro tenor. The concert which was under the auspices of the Willing Circle of King's Daugh- ters was heartily enjoyed by a large audience.

Mr. Holder possesses a rich pow- erful voice of unusual range and power. He was ably assisted by Mrs. Bolder.

Planes can light and depart at any stage of the tides. Senator McArthur and Mr. Pope returned to Summerside by six p. m. taking the samo route as the planes crossing in twenty minutes.

A very successful illustration sation field day, the third of a ser- lee, was held yesterday at Iona on the farm of Mr. James Daley. Previous field days this year were held on the farms of Messrs Alex Mathescn, Wood Islands, on July 5 and Clifford McEwen, St. Peters on July 7.

The same programme with slight variations has been carried out I all three occasions.

As one of the objectives of the field days is to demonstrate the work done by the stations. the programme h ‘ ’ inspection of station fielch, of experiments, plot work, livestock and gardens. Of special interest this year is the elaborate experiment "on Brown Heart in turnips. At eaoh field the method of growing the crops is explained. '

An hour and a half is spent on discussion of the librperimental Farm truck exhibit. The six topics discussed are the growing of timo- thy seed, a vegetable garden on every farm, the effect of nitrates on timothy and three on the breed- ing and feeding of poultry.

Dr. J. A. Clark, Mr. D. l". Tirmey, and Mr. B. C. Parent, Director of the Illustration Stations, were in attendance at each demonstration. Mr. S. G. Peppin wa present at Wood Islands, and Mr. Stewart Ir- vin was present st St. Peter's where he put on a sheep drenching de- monstration. ‘

REMAINS OF OLERGYMAN AR.- RIVE — The remains of Rev. Dr. James J. Farrah arrived in the city last evening from Montreal. The body was met at the railway station by the Knights of Columbus, the Holy NameSociety, the Benevolent Irish Society, and many other mem- bers of the Roman Catholic congre- gations in the city. A large proces- sion with the League of the Cross and Canadian Legion Bands follow- ed the remains from the station to St. Dunstanb Basilica. The body was met at the entrance by His Ex- cellency Bishop O'Su1livan, and the priests of the Diocese. The office of the dead was chanted. His Ex- cellency, Bishop 0'Su1livan, was pre- sent on the Throne, and was assist- ed by Rev. T. Curran and Rev. F. Muiialy. The funeral will be held today. Solemn Mass will be cele- brated at the Basilica at 9 o'clock. At 1.30 p. m. the remains will be transferred to St. Georges, where the funeral will be held Saturday morning at l0 o'clock. His Excel- lency Bishop O’Sul1ivan will cele- brato Pontifical High Mass, and. the sermon will be delivered by Rev. Dr. Murphy, Rector of St. Dunstan's University.

When Hon. Leonard P. D. Tilley, Prime,Mlnlsier of New Brunswick. extended the official welcome of the province to the intrepid avi- ator, the Premier addressed Gen- eral Balbo in Italian. The official welcome in Italian was not only a happy touch to the historic occa- sion, but it marked the first time that a dignitary from a European nation had been extended the feli- cltations of this province in a language other than English, by an English speaking Premier.

The address, artistically engros- sed on parchment, and encased in rich, brown morocco, was presented to General Balbo by Premier Tilley as a memento of the air squad- ron‘s arrival at Shediac, their first Canadian landing place. The Pre- mier road the address in Italian and then delivered the official wel- come in English. General Balbo was visibly touched by the greet- ing in Italian.
