Fire yestorday afternoon destroy- ed a dwelling and barn at Grand Tracadie, owned by Mr. Benjamin MacKinnon. Cause of the fire was not known.

It was reported that practically all the furniture and everything in the barn was destroyed. The amount of the loss was not lesmed.

Only a few days ago another fire, about a mlle away. destroyed the dwelling and barn of Mr. Pal:- lali Currall.at Pleasant Grove.

Macllachern to honor their two sons Billie and Donnie who have since left to attend Horton Academy. Mrs. Gordon MacDonald explained the. purpose of the gathering and called upon Min Evelyn Malnn who read a compli- mentary address exprming society's regret at losing two such helpful members but congratulat- ing them on realizing the benefit of higher education and of fol- lowing this trend. The presentation of two nicely bound ‘Testaments was made by Ruth Maclluhern and Lloyd MacDonald after which Ill Joined in singing, "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows." The remain- der of the evening was happily spent in games and contests. An enjoyable luncheon was then ser- ved by Mrs. MacEacher-n after which all departed to their homes wishing Billie and Donnie the very best of success in future years.

L. Cpl. Blacquierdjoined the ar- my in the sprlna cf 1940 and after serving in Newfoundland for a year was posted to the Royal Rifles Canada and proceeded to Hang Kong with that unit. The last word from him was received over a. year ago when he said that he was in good health. His famil had been advised about a year tar the fall of Hong Kong that he ind been transferred to the Tokyo grep, so it is probable that he was liberated by American troops.
