The April meeting of Kingston United W. M. S. was held at the home of Mrs. Edgar Newson.

The meeting opened with the worship period led by Mrs. Wil- lard Proud. the theme of which was "Easter gave us the Bible". Hymn 182 was followed by prayer. scripture readings by different membe a, hymn 109, and a read- ing "The Lord's Supper", by iMrs. Owen Younker. Closing hymn of worship period was 249.

Business conducted by the pre- sident included the reading of the minutes of the last meeting, and roll call was answered by 15 mem- bers. Collection amount-d to 31.80 and Friendship Fund' was me. Easter thankotlering was 31.00.

A report of the weighing party stated proceeds were 32635. A donation of 81.00 was received from Mrs. Duncan Marshall and a let- ter was read from Rev. W.A. Mac- Phail for funds for Training School.

Next meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. I-leber Barrett, when lunch committee will be Mrs. Heber Barrett, Mrs. Willard Proud and Mrs. Lyman Newson.

Meeting closed with the hymn, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” and lunch was served by the hostess and committee in charge.

Mrs. Elmer Younker will have charge of worship for the next meeting.

DARNLEY AND SEA VIEW W. M. S.

-The regular monthly meeting of Darnley and Sea View Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Harry Crozier on March ll with an at- tcndance of 7 members.

"The World Day of Prayer Ser- vice" was conducted'by Mrs. Croz- ier with several members assist- lng.

Prayers were offered by Mrs. James Hickey, Mrs. Colin Donald and Mrs. A. MacKay and the roll call was answered with each mem- ber repeating a Beatitude by memory. Minutes or last. meeting were read and approved and cor- respondence consisted of a letter from Mrs. Marjorie Howard, also a. letter from Miss Louise Call- beck, returned missionary.

Donations -from Eatons and slmpsons were on display. The friendship secretary reported 9 hospital cards. 4 hospital letters, 2 sympathy letters. 3 cards, 4 visits and 4 treats. Mrs. Arthur Macxay hsd charge of the last chapter of study Book and was assisted by Mrs. James Hickey. Mrs. Lloyd Adams, Mrs. Fulton Simmons and Mrs. Gordon Cousins.

As the World Day of Prayer was not held an altering was taken at this meeting -for the spreading of Christian Literature. Lunch was served by the hostess, and 3, social hour followed.

During the regular business period it was moved by Mrs. A. R. Wallis and seconded by Mrs. L. B. Leard that the West Prince W.M.S. Rally be invited to meet in Alberton in the latter part of June. The motion was carried.

The Literature Secretary, Mrs. Waugh, reported five books read by members during the month, and Mrs. Bon man, Community Friendship sec etary, reported the community Friendship work as follows: 59 home calls, 16 hospi- tal calls. 11 treats, nine cards and seven letters. ,

Plans were made for the next meeting when the Hall hostess will be Mrs. Helen Hardy; wor- ship leader, ' Mrs. John Wells; study leader, Mrs. Green; and Watchtower Iteporter, Mrs. James i-Iodgson.

The Watchtower report for the day was given by Mrs. Fred Leard, after which the meeting closed with a hymn followed by the Mizpah Benediction.

The regular monthly meeting of the Auxiliary of the Women's Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. J. L. LePage on Thursday night, April 3rd. The president, Mrs. LePage. tool: charge of the meeting which had as its theme ”Easter gave us the Bible". Two verses of I-Iymn 182 "0 Word of God Incarnate" were read and the fourth verse sung as the worship period opened.

All joined in prayer, following which various members read the Easter story as presented in ccr- tain verses of the Bible. Hymn 98, "Beneath the Cross of Jesus" was sung. followed by more scrip- ture resdings and the singing or two verses of Hymn 104, "Christ The Lord Is Risen Today".

Mrs. C. Matheson offered pray- er for the missionary, Dr. Mur- ray, and the Easter thankoi'ler- ing was received amounting to 316.85. A collection of 32.06 was also taken in.

The minutes were read and ap- proved and 18 answered the roll call. Books read numbered nine and 46 home and four hospital calls were made. Mrs. Ripley 'e- portcd that 323.30 had been rais- ed the first quarter. Mrs. Sea- man read a section of an article on "Temperance".

The May meeting is to be held at the home of Mrs. G. E. Smith and roll call is to be answered by a Bible verse beginning with the letter "1". Following is the lunch committee: Mrs. J. Maclbeod, Mrs. L. Sherren, Mrs. C. Tremere.

The meeting closed with the Benediction, and a lunch was served.

ALBEIITON W. M. S.

-The theme for the opening worship service of the Alberton Auxiliary of the W. M. S. was "We Believe In Brotherhood". This service was led by Mrs. James Hodgson on Thursday afternoon at the United Church Hall.

Mrs. C. H. Weeks then present- ed the study based on the Home Mission Digest telling of the work among the French Protestants in Quebec and other parts of Can- ada.

Mrs. Edwin Lord was in charge of the programme, the theme be- ing "Easter gave us the Bible" and was assisted by several mem- bers. Roll call was responded to by 13 members and two visitors were present. Minutes of the March meeting were read and ap- provcd and Mrs. E. S. Weeks. president of the Bedeque Auxiliary, gave an outline of the work to be undertaken regarding the cam- paign for funds for the new Unit- ed Church Training school for young women. to be erected in" Toronto. several members agreed to help with the canvass for funds.

The Easter meeting of the Cra- paud Auxiliary of the W. M. S. was held at the home of Mrs. Percy Dawson on Thursday eve- ning, April 3rd. with ten mem- bers and two visitors present.

The Easter program was follow- ed from the Monthly, with Mrs. Ralph Myers as leader. and Mrs. Norman MacDonald, Mrs. Wm. Weddell, Mrs. Joseph Trowsdale, and Mrs. Fred Oakes giving the Bible readings, and Mrs. R. L. Brown pronouncing the benedic- tion. The presldent, Mrs. Robert Dawson. then took charge of the business period, and minutes were read and approved, roll call re- sponded to, offering received. and thank-offering envelopes distribut- ed. The members reported having made six sick calls and having sent fourteen cards during the month.

Rev. R. L. Bacon then addres- sed the meeiing. about the pro- posed new United Church Train- ing School and allocation towards it. The members present decided to bring their donations to the next meeting and to canvass the homes not represented at the meeting.

The first of the 1952 Red Cross Junior First Aid Classes was com- pleted ln Prince street school this week. when fifteen cadets who had received instruction from Miss Mabel Matheson, Red Cross First Aid Instructor, fin- ished the required tests and qual- ified for their Junior First Aid Certificates.

The practical tests were carried out by Miss Iphigenie Arsenauit, Provincial Red Cross Commission- er, assisted by Miss Marie Bow- ness, Director of Junior Red Cross.

The meeting opened with the League prayer by the Rev. Director. Fr. Maccormac.
