CARI Changes

The regular one-hour free swims for UPEI students have been replaced with extended access to the pool facilities at the CARI Centre. All UPEI students who have paid their CARI Access Fee can now take part in all programs at the CARI pool, such Free Swims, Lane Swims, AquaFit, AquaJog, etc. (with the exclusion of Swimming Lessons and DiaperFit). This change is now in effect and applicable students can gain access by swiping their UPEI Campus Card at CARI. For more information on schedules and programs, visit the CARI

International Student

Connections Program The Student Union and the ISCP are looking for students who are interested in becoming a “buddy” for a new In- ternational Student. Becoming a vol- unteer looks great on a resume, and is

Student Exchange Information Session

Interested in Studying Abroad? Want to combine your love of travel with your desire for an education? If so, come to an information session about the UPEI Exchange Programs. The INKredible Recycling Program

It is the beginning of a new year, a new semester, and new endeavours for all of us. The UPEI Environmental Society is initiating an ink cartridge recycling program for all students, staff, faculty, and campus visitors. Our mission is to help the environment and needy animals at the P.E.I. Humane Society through simple actions like dropping off used

cartridges in collection boxes on.

Graduate Student Research Workshops Jan. 31 & Feb. 8

Two Graduate Student Research Workshops have been scheduled: Preparing Ethics Applications will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 31 in the AVC Faculty Lounge. This workshop will be presented by Dr. Barb Horney, member of the UPEI’s Research Ethics Board.

Graduate Students & Intellectual Property will be held at noon on Wednesday, February 8 in Main 340. This workshop will be presented by Dr. Gordon Bird, UPEI’s Technology Transfer Manager. All graduate students are welcome to attend. For more information on all of the Office of Research &

Live Sports Action on Panther Radio

While nothing beats catching live Panther hockey action in person at the MacLauchlan arena, if you can’t make it in you can now take it in... ONLINE.

Panther Radio is a multi- faceted Internet-based service that brings exciting live sports action from the University of Prince Edward Island to you. Our first service is live UPEI Panther Hockey, bringing you live play-by-play and commentary for every regular season Panther game.

Visit http://radio.upei.ca to listen live and to learn more. The first game of the regular season is Friday, October 14 at 7:00 pm with the pre- game show beginning 15 minutes before the puck drops.

Federal Election 2006- Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada Survey Results

The Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) Web site provides information on higher education as well as news and views about the federal election campaign. It includes the responses of the four main federal parties to the AUCC sutvey that was sent out in December 2005 requesting their views on the critical issues of higher education and research. The survey contained eight questions covering policies for post- secondary education investments in four critical areas: capacity and quality; affordability, outreach and support; international education; and graduate studies and research.
