Then, be- fore he could start again. a small Rat darted out from behind an- other bsrrel. He was young, not -more than half grown, but bigger. much b er than Nibblet, too big for Nib et to dare go near him. There was nothing Ito do but mi: until that Rat left.

Then it happened. To the startl- ed Mouse what seemed llke e liv- ing shadow, for ,there -was no sound, appeared from high above.
