Quebec. in the year i900 with 9 members and os- scts of $26.40 had grown to an or- ganization of 4,000,000 members with assets of $400,000,000. He explained how the various small Unions were united in a Provincial League which in turn is affiliated with the treat central association known as CUNA. Here lll P.E.I. at the present time we have 47 Credit Unions with a membership of 5,700 and ova!‘ $200,000. He explained how the Credit Union was an international rather than a national organization as the farmer on Prince bldward Island’ has the same worries ns those in Oregon or Mexico. Each member of the local union pay thirteen cents per annum for ad minist-ratlve dues. Of this amount seven cents goes to the Provincial

At the October meeting of St. Joseph's Sodaiity the advisability of forming an Alumnae fr. connect- ion with the Convent was consider- ed. 1t was decided to form an org- anization to be known as "The sodallty and Alumnae of St. Jos- eph's Convent." all sodallsts and former graduates of the Convent being eligible for membership. The following officers were then elected by ballot: President-Miss Margaret Butler; Vlcepresldent Miss Florence McTogue; Raoordiril| Secretary - Miss Stella Smith; Corresponding Secretary - Miss Mary Coreoruli; Treasurer- Miss Anne Walsh.

At a, subsequent meeting of the executive the following committees were appointed to carry on the activities of the society: Sick Committee - Mrs. McNally: Prog- ram Committee - Miss Ethel Moran; I By-lawts Committee - Miss Gertrude l Coady; Library Committee - Miss Hilda Corcoran; Reception Commit- tee - Miss Lucy Coady Member- ship Committee lvLrs. Joseph Callaghan; Good Works Commit ee Mrs Allan MacDonald; Service Committee - ltlrs. Jonn Connolly , and Mzs, Fred Steele. TWO FIRES — The fire brigade was summoned twice last evening. The first time. 7 o'clock, on oll- burner floodin in a residence at 66 B/ochford street. caused ‘on alarm. The second time the scene of the fire was in Sacred Heart Home at 6.30. However little dam- age was reported in either case.

It gets no attention save a severe pruning after the leaves fall and never a forkful of manure yet produces a full crop of fruit year after year. I made 9 lbs. of| grape jelly this year and gave the rest of the fruit away. The jelly was much better this year owing, I suppose, to advance in the tech- nique. An I learn from one of mv friends that if the fruit is kept ’over a few days it edlblllty greatly improved. I had been under the impression that grapes, once plucked. ripened no further. As rooted cuttings are always in demand. a few have been stowed away (buried) till spring.
