The tournanen* will be held on the
VUharlottetown Driving Park, on Thursday, “nh Jane, and Friday, lat July. Oa the forenoon of the first day there will bea parade of the joes) ‘aod visiting firemen with apparates, and in the afternoon there will be « public dinner in the Exhibition building. and tiremen’s sports. At sight there will be a torchlight procession and diaplay of fireworks. On the second day the firemen's sports will be concluded, and the proceedings will be brought to a close with a promenade coacert in the Exhibition building, at which prizes will be awarded fer the best band music. Bands from Moncton, Halifax, Fredericten, Amherst, St. John, and other places will compete.
‘The committee are working hard to nmke the tolrmament a grand success, and are ineeting with much enecouragemeny at the haads of citizens generally. Already letters usve been received from the fire departments of Halifax, Moncton, Amherstand st. Johan sccepting the invitations extended to them to be present at the tournament. Two hundred mise ace expected from Halifax and an equal number from St Joha. Moncton and Ame herat will ales send large contingents.
A boekey mateh in aid of the tournament fuud will be played in the Hillsborough Rink to-morrow (Wedaesday) evening, between a Salvage Corps team and a team of All- comers. Galbraith’s Band will be in attend- ance. Let everyone show that they appreciate yur firernen and are in favor of a tournament vy attending in large numbers,

and approved, and a number of bilis were disposed of. } Coun, Crabbe moved that the Fiuance Committee be authorizad to make the ne- cessary arrangements with the Merchants Bank of Prince Edward Island or other bank for such overdraft as is now in exis- tence and as may hereafter be required for the redemption of debentures talling due this year, and also for all other ex penses of the city. Coun. Hogan seconded the motiou: Carried.
The estimates of the City School Board for the year ending 3lat December, 1892, were submutted. The ‘otal amount ig £10,513—87,143 for current expenditure

A letter was read from Mr. John T Mellish, attorney-at-law, stating that he wag instructed hy Mr. Daniel Weatherby to informa the Board that if no arrangement can be made by way of indemnifying him (Weatherby) in respect to the very serious mjuries sustained by him -by reason of a defective sidewalk at or near the corner of Faston and Pleasant Streets he would be under thenecessity if takirglezal proceedings against the city. A letter from Mr. .W. S. Stewart, attor- ney, ete., conveyed the information that he had been retained by L. W. Harris to commence an action sgsinat the city to re- cover damages fur injuries sustained by a hérse on the 6ch December last through the négligence of the city Mr. Harris places hia claim at $65. Referred to the same special committee,
The spplication of James B. Pollard for the position uf City Sanitary Otlicer, was laid on the table.
A letter was read from Mr. F. W. L, Moore, barrister, etc.. in reference to nuisance existing on Edward Street, and particulary iu and about the premises of Patrick Kelly,which nuisance heclaimed was caused by the neglect of the city to provide proper drainage. Mr. Moore complains that the surface water lodges on Kelly's premises after every rain,tlooding his cellar and at times making it ditlicult for him io get from his house to his barn, and states that unless the Board takes mea- sures to abate the nuisance Mr. Kelly wil! take action against the city for such dam- age as he has sustained. Referred to the Street Committee tu take such action as they deem advisable.
Coun. Crabbe gave notice that at next reg- ular meeting of Council he would introduce a by-law for levying and specifying the rate of assessment on real estate and per- sonal property for civic purposes, anda ty- law levying and specifying the rate of xs- sesetent on real estate, personal p-operty and poll for water purposes; and aiso a by- law for allowing a rate of discount on the assessmenta for civic purposes on real es- state and personal property.
Corn. Crabbe moved that the services of Charles Berry, keeper of the smiulp x hos- pital, be dispensed with. Seconded by Coua. Hogan. Carried. .
