The Third Meeting of the Student Council was held on the 17th of October and WOW.....was_ it ever long........

REPORTS President

-- Clare was actually on speaker phone for the meeting, she was in Calgary for a meeting. (And having her on the speaker phone turned out to be a great adventure, ‘mad props' must be given to Clare for sitting alone in her hotel room, with a phone to her ear for three hours.) -- Clare met with MAPUS in regards to the Centennial Scholarship and is now in the process of writing a letter to encour- age the change in the particular course number requirements.

-- The letter that was written on behalf of the Student Union in regards to the discussion that took place last week with the online cal- endar was given out.

-- Clare along with the rest of the executive met with the GSA in hopes to resolve pending issues.

VP Finance

-- There had been discussion of adding a new ATM, it looks like this is not going to happen.

-- Applications are in for the hiring board and interviews will be held in the near future.

-- Bank reconciliation has taken place over the last couple of weeks. -- Britt also gave a short presenta- tion on the SU finances (and it was an amazing show).

Exec WP

-- Mark informed council that the printing company in charge of the Survival Guides was not as prompt as expected and due to such, the charge was dropped by 15%.

_ Show"

-- There are still a few minor changes to be made with the new SU Website, but the site is function- ing and is being visited by many.

-- He met with Vianne Timmons regarding the "International Buddy Program"

-- Mildred Dover, Minister of Education will be available for questioning on November 3rd -and various issues will be up for discus- sion.

VP Activities

-- Societies need to register, dead- line is set for November Ist, 2004.

--Social committee has had two meetings and they are brainstorm- ing for future events. (If anyone out there has any ideas, feel free to con- tact Pete)

-- The week leading up to Halloween will have a variety of spooky events including Monday Night Movie Pub Double Bill fea- turing "Rocky Horror Picture and "Little Shop of Horrors", Thursday will be a Wet/Dry "Carnival Diablo" Freak Show, and Saturday will be the Halloween Pub Featuring Dirty Deeds.

Senate

--Changes to the English courses were further clarified.

--The Chancellor Search Committee was established in

-- There are several student posi- tions available on various commit- tees.

-- No new scholarships were creat- ed this year

--Senate has done away with sup- plemental exams

--. The University purchased 95 Belvedere Avenue to further devel- op the campus and will continue to purchase properties to aid in the "Campus Master Plan” strategy.

MAPUS

-- Setting up a meeting with Mr. Clive Keen to discuss the Centennial Scholarship program.

~— Regular meetings are to be held every Wednesday.

GSA

-- Wine and Cheese had a great turn out.

— Three Graduate workshops are being held in the near future and they maybe opened to 4th year stu- dents.

-- Halloween events are being con- sidered, perhaps even a pub crawl.

Nursing

-- Nursing Society hold meetings every Wednesday. -- The last pub crawl, in partnership with the Engineering Society was a success, with just over 180 people participating.(And I would like to thank Mr. Driscoll for getting me a shirt.....oh wait, he didn't....Mark you dink!!!)

— Events are now being directed towards family orientated events, apple picking will take place on the 23rd of October and there is the possibility of holding a Christmas formal.

-- It was encouraged to attend the

Haunted House put on by the Music

Faculty.

-- Soc Society planning a pub crawl for the 7th.

-- Philosophy is looking into host- ing a party and there are various conferences in which the Political Studies Society is looking to attend

Business

-- Business Society planning a pub crawl on the 17th.

-- Shelley held her first constituents meeting and Ryan P. will be holding his on Thursday.

-- Ten, $50 awards were given away, as well as one $100 dollar award to members who signed up for the Business Society this year.
