FALLFEST FRIDAY NIGHT

Eddie Murphy and cold soldiers. This is an unbeatable combination any time, but especially on a Friday night after a long week.

Joining friends John and Emmy at a table, we all enjoyed the crazy antics of a real king of comedy. The crowd, leftovers from the early movies and the first of the hockey crowd, were in fine spirits. The place was nearly packed by 9 p.m.

The hockey crowd showed up early, because the game was by all reports very lopsided in our favour. Not much fun there, unless your on the Panther’s team.

By nine thirty the crowd had grown noticably and a true party spirit was in the air. Some of the crowd looked like they were from out of the Provi': ~, and [am sure a low Concordia Stinger fans were present.

After Eddie Murphy the music of CIMN carr blasting on, and followed by a fewfits and starts, the Bartender: ‘inally got the light syster /ing. Flying Phil of Pantherette fame, got the dancing started and was soon joined by

night, the crowd around the bar began to grow as the time neared 10 pm. Of course, it was the crazy hour — all prices 90 cents from 10 to 11 pm. I waited hanging over the bar at 9:58 watching the minutes tick off from the Quartz Wall Clock. The crowd was not buying, just waiting, holding lllcir money over the bar, staring longingly at the clock. Suddenly it was l0:05 pm-an amazing feat had occured. In Ireland they have a holy shrine that moves, the Panther Lounge, a clock that jumps into the magic hour.

I must admit I didn’t know that. nice chap who stood beside the bar next to the clock with a grin bigger than that seen on Alice in Wonderland's Cheshire cat. I prefer to believe he was simply as awe- struck as l was by the clock’s leap in time.

The bottles began to rapidly fill our table, a number empty, but an awful lot ofthem full. The Happy Hour soon ended — the party did not. It got louder and the beer went down easier.

About midnight, the crowd began to thin. A good time was had by all and another fall fest night went down swinging.
