Covert told the lard annual convention of the National Council of women. "Neither race. religion nor pol- itics lnterefere with your work. Few rulers of state or church ever devoted their lives to women in need 100 years ago: co-operation be- tween men and women was rarely thought of.

"But today the time has come when co-operation between men and l women means we may achieve peace in our time.

That is what we all wish and hope for; may we achieve it." The Lieutenant Governor, who opened the convention. was fol- lowed by Mayor E. J. Cragg.

"The importance of the nation-, :11 work which must be undertaken . by women is apparent," the Mayorl said. “Some of us do not quite ap-1 preciate conditions today nor real-. lze they are not easily to be got—! ten over."
