ne Maid’s is a great little diner across from the herwood Shopping Center (get it?). The decor is onderfully cheesy, with tons 0’ Robin Hood emorabilia. The playful menu alone is worth the ‘sit. One would expect it to be something of a urist trap; however this roadside diner iscrowded all times not with money_laden tourists but with cal working folk. Maid Marian’s is known rimarily for the breakfast specials, each named fer Nottingham’s legendary characters. My vorite is the Robin Hood special: 2 eggs, thick ast, home fries, your choice of bacon, ham, or nusage, plus coffee on the side for less than $4 axes included). Every night has a special which ; ewqually cheap, such as the buy_one, get-one- ee. Not only is the food wonderfully cheap, it’s onderfully good. ;

Marian’s tends to get very busy around inch and for weekend breakfasts, but they do rve breakfast throughout the day, which is great r those of us who crave morning munchies late t night.

Why do I love this place so much? 1) The _ 2) The prices. 3) The extended breakfast ours. 4) All the seats are booths. Addin the funky sters and the somewhat surreal Robin Hood omplex and you have a really fun atmosphere to ang out in.Maid Marions gets... tada! 5 out of 5 ookies.

trospective JR. Capone's JR Capone's

JR Capone’s is a new(ish) pizza spot on University Avenue by the Playhouse. Capone’s caters mostly to the late night bar crowd by selling single slices, but you can also order traditional pizza. What makes Capone’s different than the other pizzerias that sell by the slice is that they have BIG slices. Take a medium pizza and cut in in half... that’s your slice. ‘‘Halifax Style’’, I’m told. There’s usually works and\or pepperoni pizza in the oven for your slicing pleasure. Said slice is about $3 with tax, a fairly good deal.

The pizza is fairly average as far as Charlottetown goes, but the crust is good and thick, and you do get lots of toppings.

This is a new business, still struggling to survive, and I’m sure the only place they can go is up. Once they become established, (and get some stools to make into a dining area) this will be good spot to keep your eye on... it’s got great potential. For now, Capone’s will get 3 cookies.

Hans Christian von Baeyer has done an admirable job in translating the sometimes unaccessible language of physics intoactual, hon- est-to-goodness readable stories. The Fermi Solu- tion is written for the non-scientist who happens to have an interest in the how and why the world does what it does. While reading the essay "Zero De- grees," in which the author explains just why it is that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light and how that limit is analogous to the coldest possible temperature, I found myself exclaiming to my roommates “Hey, I understand’. E=mc was given meaning. 2

Von Bayer’s vocabulary is as great as his understanding of science. Reading his essays, I found myself asking aloud ‘*What does this word mean” more times than I would have liked. This did not detract from the effectiveness of von Baeyer’s style of writing. In fact it may prove his mastery. His descriptions of famous personalities in the history of physics and how they thought brings hard science down to earth.

Best of all, reading The Fermi Solution makes one feel smart. It is full of interesting facts,

new ways of looking at scientific problems, and
