iA.Ii.E.G. Meeting At Kensington Discusses Leadership Training

The executive of the Summer- side-Kensington branch of the Maritime Religious Education Council met at Remington Unit- ed Church Wednesday evening June zlst. The President, Mr. Robert Carruthers presided and Rev. L. M. Murray began the meeting with prayer.

The president explained the purpose of the meeting which was to arrange for a Leadership Train- ing School. This would be of great benefit to Sunday school teachers and prospective teachers. officers and leaders of young peoplca' groups. The members present, representing eight schools, were in favor of holding the school dur- lng September.

It was moved by Mrs Lewis Cairns. Freetown and seconded.by Mrs. Heath Mayhew Margate that Plan No. 1 be used at the 1.. T. 8. Motion carried.

This course will give instruction and new ideas on a large number of subjects, including. Knowing the pupil and preparing to teach I lesson, Worship using Visual Aids and Methods of teaching for var- ious ege groups.

This course is one of four lead- ing to a Certificate of Progress. Those who attend for the four evenings of the course will take s test. and receive course credit cards.

The lessons are based on Teach- ers of Religion by Myers. a book which will be available for study before the school is held.

-On Saturday. June 10. at misce" shower was held at the home of Mrs. and Mrs. Elmer Waugh in honor of his sister Eli- een who is to be one of this month's brides. To the strains of the Wedding March played by Miss Clare Simmons. the bride to be was escorted to the seat of honor by her friend Miss Minn. Dye. The bride and her friend were charm- ingly attired in summer of floral print. The seat of honor was prettily decorated by friends of the bride with pink and white streamers end bouquets of lilacs and honeysuckle.

The baskets of gifts were brought in and opened by the Misses 'Msr.tory Huestis, Gwennie clerk and Beulah Jsrdine. The verses were read by Mrs. Elmer Wet and Miss Clara Simmons. whll Miss Dorothy Linklettcr and Miss Phyllis I-Iogg arranged the presents on the table.

The guest of honor thanked all her friends for their lovely gifts in ii graciously worded speech of appreciation after which. the guests sang "For She's A Jolly Good Fellow" accompanied by Mrs. Brewer Waugh at the piano.

Special music was provided and appropriate discourses were given by the Minister. Rev. J. Donald MacKay. The Minister was assist- ed by Flight Cadet Clarie Mac- Kenzie of the R..C.A F. station whose home is in Westviile, N. s. In the morning service Mr. John Mun-gall was the lay reader.

A quartette consisting of J. C. Mountain, Maurice Mill. Lowell Hancock and Earl Schurmnn ren- dered the hymn, "Jesus Savior Pro- tect Me." The anthem was "The Lost Chord" by Arthur Sullivan. The choir was under the direction of Mrs. Cleve Whalcn. organist and choir director.
