Anyone interested in natural history will enjoy the up-coming issue of the Island Magazine which reflects a commitment to publish more natural history articles. "An Infinite Number of Woodpigeons" by Geoff . Hogan describes the first recorded sighting of passenger pigeons by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and follows this bird's decline through to extinction. The magazine's cover has a magnificent illustration of this bird by John Burden.

Issue #16 also has a book review by Dr. Ian MacQuarrie of the newly published Atlantic Wildflowers by D. Griffin, W. Barrett and Ann MacKay.
