Grading operations have begun near Sourls, on the beach from Souris West bridge to the Village limits, on a demonstration half- rnile section of low cost asphalt highway which will bc the first of four such sections to be undertaken by the Provincial Department of Public Works this summer. Follow- ing the Sourls project work will be done successively at the cross- roads leading to the 48 and 49 roads. By trying out both mixing processes. the Govern- ment will be in a position to de- termine which is the most econom- ical in the long run.

While a large percentage of sand can be used in either process. it is possible to develop the use oi straight soil where sand is not readily available. Where beach Isnnd can be obtained at a low cost.
