The Island Physical Fitness Bas- ketball League will get underway here at the Prince of Wales Col- lege Auditorium next Wednesday night, November 30th, it was de- cided last night during the annual meeting of the League held at the Travel Bureau. The opening of the schedule will be a double- header event with Saint Dunstan! University meeting Ray's Million- aires in the first game while Sum- merside Schurmans meet Army (Reece) in the second encounter.

Lt.-Col. W. J. MacDonald, who presided over the meeting, was re-eleeted President of the League while Norman MacDonald of Summcrside and Walter LePage of the City were also re-elected as Vice-President and Secretary re- spectively. The executive, which is composed of a representative from each team, is as follows: - Joe Cullen (Army), Maurice Good- win (Ray's Millionaires), Charles Linkletter (S'Side Schurmans). D. E, “Moose" Carson (R.C.A.F.).Reg. Doueette (S.D.U.) and Edwin Kelly (P.W.C.).

During the meeting, which was n highly enthusiastic one and well represented by the various clubs. I six-team league was developed again this year and will include four team entries from the City of Ray's Millionaires. Army, Saint Dunstan‘: University and Prince of Wales College while the two team entries from Summerside will include Schur-man‘s and R. C. A. F.

to carry on the League in two sec- tions, with a Charlottetown divis- ion and a Summerside ditgision, in order to cut down travelling and expenses, with the winners of both sections meeting in the fin- als, it was decided however to operate as one League when the Summerside representatives point- ed out that it would be out of the question to floor more than two teams in that centre which would make a poor set-up for a division there.

Other decisions arrived at dur- ing the meeting included a mo- tion to the effect that “no teams will participitate in a regular League game unless there is an official referee and linesmen pre- sent to take charge of the game." lt was also decided that each team will appoint two linesmen to officiate with the referee dur- in-g scheduled games and that L! possible, permanent referees will be appointed to officiate during the season, and otherwise, the home team will be responsible for providing the referees and lines- men.

BOSTON, Nov, 23—(AP)—Cap- ‘tun Milt Schmidt, the Boston Bruins’ veteran centre, came up with his first goal of the current National Hockey League season to clinch a 3-1 victory over the Tor- onto Maple Leafs tonight before 11,744 fans at the Boston Garden.

Schmidt cost in a defensive role until last Sunday, put on one of his old time sensational solo efforts tn break a 1-1 deadlock dur- ing the 10th minute of the finale.

As the result of the annual meeting of the island Physical Fit- ness Basketiball League last night, a six-team league was developed again this year. which will con- sist of a two-game home and home schedule giving each team a total of l0 games to play be- fore the playoffs are reached.

Canadian Press Staff Writer MONTREAL, Nov. 23 —(C P) - A sharp piece of unscrupulousness. involving the unauthorized use of a nationally-known firms name, pro- vided Calgary stampedcirs with a complete motion picture of the first Ottawa-Montreal Big Four playoff game, the Canadian Press learned authoritatively today.

The informant said the Associat- ed Screen News unknowingly be- came a. dupe in the under-cover skuiduggery.

The Calgary ooup was carried out by a man now living in Montreal who is a former director of the Siampeders.

His name was not revealed to the Canadian Press but he is known personally by the vice-president of the nationally-known company, who himself" is a former coach of a Big Four team.

All the details surrounding the operation which was carried out wltih no brilliant amount of finesse. were related to the Canadian Press by an unimpeachabie source.

A few hours after the CP story broke today. President Tom Brook and Coach Les Lear of the Stam- peders, in Toronto, denied any knowledge of the film. The Toronto Telegram followed with a newspage story in which it said it. had learned that. the Stanipeders "not only have the pic- tures of the first Ottawa-{Nfontreal game but of the second as well; v/hat is more, the players have twice looked at these, on Sunday and again today." President Leo Dandursnd and coach Lew Hayman 0f Montreal Alouettes indicated they would make no charges of any kind. Although coach Lew l-Iaymar. would make no direct ccmmeni, there is every reason to believe he was much concerned and immedi- ately began revlsing plays and in- troducing new formations. It is bc- lieved these were rarely, if at any time, brought out in the open when Alouettes defeated Hamilton Tigers in the Eastern Canada final.
