After last week's pathetic attempt at humour, | think I'll forego the joke portion and move on to business. But first, one question: What were you animal physiology people doing spinning on chairs on the fourth floor of Duffy? New teaching techniques, Master Garland? Maybe the plant physiology students should ask MacQuarrie if we can spin plants on chairs, too. Hmmm...

CPR/FIRST AID. It’s back again! So, if you missed it the first time because you didn't hear about it or it was already full, take it this time around. It’s an emergency first aid with adult and baby saver CPR course and it only costs $25.00. It’s going to be held on Saturday, January 29 at 9am. I'll leave a sign up sheet up in the Bio Club for anyone interested.

BIO BASH! This Friday at the Panther Lounge (don’t worry, we won't change the date again). Everyone who went to the bash at the Barn last February will remember how much fun it was. It'll be even better this year because we've got a band booked, a free BEvERage for members, and drink specials for the whole night! And to top it off, there’s NO COVER CHARGE! Come on down to the

Barn and party with the Bio’s this Friday from 8pm on!

YEAR BOOK PHOTO. Don't worry, you haven't missed your chance to get your mug in the prestigious Biology Club section of the year book. The photographer couldn't make it last Wednesday, so we're going to try for next Wednesday instead (February 2) at 12:30 in the Bio Club. Don’t forget your comb, and make sure the broccoli is out of your teeth!

ENVIRONMENTAL CLUB. Meeting this Wednesday (January 26) at 12:30 upstairs at the Barn. Topics: setting upa recycling program on campus, establishing the Green Committee as a real sub-organization, funding, and any concerns or ideas people have. Everyone is welcome! Don't forget your lunch.

Residence bursary-.

Bernardine Hall ($500)

FOLLOWING ARE. THE TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR.THE ABOVE-NAMED BURSARY:

I. Recipient must be a Junior or Senior student living in Bernardine Hall who has lived there for at least two years.

2. Must have an average of 65% or better in last semester's work and passing grade in all five subjects.

3. Must write a personal essay about what she/he has participated in during her/his years in residence. How has she/he promoted spirit in Bernardine Hall?

4. Selection to be made by a committee from the Department of Student Services (composed of the Residence Manager or Co- ordinator of Residence Program, Director of Student Services, and one counsellor) with final approval given by the Scholarship and Bursary Committee.

5. Selection to be made in conjunction with other bursaries awarded from the Memorial Bursary Fund.

UPEI AWARDS

SEVERAL AWARDS RANGING FROM $125 TO $300 ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE SECOND SEMESTER AND WILL BE AWARDED BY THE SCHOLARSHIP AND BURSARY COMMITTEE IN FEBRUARY.

Full-time students in any year may apply. One of the major requirements is need.

Bursaries

(2 of $150 each) THE TERMS OF THESE BURSARIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

|. The applicant must be able to demonstrate financial need,

2. Must be registered for either 3 or 6 semester hours of credit in the second semester,

3. Must have received passing grades in all courses in the last semester registered at UPEI,

4. Must be working towards a first degree as opposed to upgrading for a second degree.

Home Ec. Happenings

Recently two memebers of our executive travelled to Toronto for the annual ACHES Conference (Association of Canadian. Home Economics Students). They had a great time, although they did find the subway ‘a little crowded’. The conference discussed many things, including the fact that many universities are losing their Home Economics programs due to cutbacks, which everyone was real sorry tohear. Pull out your snow pants and crazy carpets, ‘cause we're going tobogganing at Brookvale this friday night (weather permitting). Check the bulletin board in the Home Ec. Lounge for more details. One quick note before | sign off: this year is International Year of the Family, so everyone should call home and thank their parents for being sucha wonder good parents and for raising such a wonderful son or daughter.

What’s on at the Panther Lounge

Don’t you just hate this cold weather we ve been having lately? Wouldn't it be nice to beon the beach in Florida? We agree, so the Panther Lounge will be sending two lucky people to St. Petersburg Florida. Imagine finishing your last exam and going home to pack for a week of “Fun in the Sun”! Basically, this is how the contest will run:

- Anyone who purchases a beverage specified

by the contest’s co-sponsor is eligible to fill out

one ballot.

- There will be six draws every Thursday night.

The first five draws are for prizes and the sixth continued on next page
