The minutes of the previous an- nual meeting were read and ap- proved. Also the financial state- ment. submitted by the Secretary- Treasurer, W. G. Gillespie, which showed a substantial balance on hand.

The report of the acting Presi- dent, Dr. R. F. Seaman appears below.

After Dr. Seaman had read his report, he called all present to stand and observe a minute sil- ence in respect to the memory of the late President, Lt.-Col. J. P. Hooper. M.C.

Dr. Seaman stated that he re- gretted an omission in that re- port which should have given cre- dit to J.'W. Godfrey for supplying his sound system and photo finish at. the Futurity races.

The chairman asked for the opinion of those present whether they were in favor of continuing the four-year-old futurities. Some were of the opinion that the four- ycar-oid pacers could be taken care of quite well in the open classes raced at thevarioua tracks. Others thought that they should have the further opportunity of the futurity event. All were in favor of racing four-year-old trot- ters, as they came to their speed more slowly and might not be fast enough to start in the open classes at the various tracks. It was finally moved by Clayton Green, Emerald, and seconded by Jack Annear, Montague. that classes be the same as previously. This passed unanimously

Other matters discussed was the number of colts necessary to start. This was set- tled by a motion by Harold Cud- more, seconded by W. H. Beaton, that it, and the amount of money, and the division of the money, be left to the directors.

The question of racing coils in the afternoon instead of at night also was brought up. Several colt owners said that night racing meant that they didn't get home until three or four o'clock in the morning and they considered that the afternoon would be prefer- able. A standing vote limited to wit owners, backedsup this op- -nion. ' '

The dates of payments on the futurlties was also discusses”, and it was decided for the 1951 futuri- ties, for two. three and four-year- old trotters and pacers, the first payment of 55 must be paid March first, and the second payment of SID" on July First. when horses must. be named. The starting fee of 310 would be paid 20 days prior to the race. 1 ,

The meeting was a very healthy one in which opportunity was given for all those present to air their views. There was no critic- ism but great praise for the splen- did work and results of the of- ficials who have conducted the club's affalri in its most success- ful year. Lift Suspension On Moncton Players

NEW GLASGOW, N. S.. Oct. 18 -(CP)-Lifting of the suspension on two Moncton Hawks players. Lou Milani and Rod Macxenzie. was announced this morning by Bryce Love, president of the Mari- time Amateur Hockey Association.

Mr. Love said the two, barred at the end of last year's hockey season, will be allowed to rejoin their team.

The move was deemed necessary due to .i'njurles to the Moncton team who have lost three con- secutive games resulting in meagre attendances at the Hub city.

He made his announcement after contacting the othea members of the,M.A.H.A. executive by wire.

The report delivered by the Vice-President, Dr. R. F. Seaman, follows:

Another year has passed since our last annual meeting and it gives me great pleasure to report a very succes4ul racing season.

Quite a number of events have taken place during the past year; one of which affected this club greatly. I refer to the death of our President, Lt.-Col. J. 'P. Hoop- er, M.C.: one of our charter mem- bers, and I know I voice the sen- timents of all our members in saying that. in the passing of Parker, our club and horse racing in general has suffered a great loss. Other horsemen who faced the starter for the last time are Mr. Milton Bell, Mr. James Collier. and Mr. H. H. Horne. To all the relatives of the above-mentioned the club extends deepest sympathy and right now I would ask you all to rise while we observe one minute's silence in their memory.

Af- ter I. good exhibition of hockey in the first period. when Islanders outscored their opponents 3-1, the game turned into n brawling type of hockey that saw numerous out- breaks between players with fists and high sticking the predominat- ing feature. sprinkled with some excellent plays and scoring at- tempts in between.

During the outbreaks. some of the players on both squads tended to carry personal grudges too far nnd caused considerable delay in the game. It.provided much excite- ment. but in a lot of instances did- n't go down too 'vell with many of the cash customers. There was just a. bit too much rough stuff and not enough hockey. It bordered on the bounds of discretion and good sportsmanship.

It is understood that Larry Dun- ville, captain of the Hawks' Club. is suffering from a slight concuss- ion as the result of a second per- iod fracas. and Frank Imonti. also of the Moncton team, may be out with injuries. This is regrettable, admittedly, and also applies to Frank Bathgatc of Islanders. who needed four stitches to close a wound in the forehead.
