I would like to have space In your paper to explain to the hockey pub- lic the item which appealed in the Guardian of February 21st in 1e- gard to Juvenile hockey playoffs which were to be played at Holy Re- deemer Rink, February 20th, and did not take place. This item claims that the Canadian Juvenile hockey team was not registered and also that the game .-hould not be played 1n an open air rink of which I am going to explain right now to be facts and not a lot of gossip. In regard to registration of the Canad- lan team I wish to explain the fol- lowing: On February 4th in conver- sation wlt-h a prominent hockvy of- ficial he told me that 1t cost ten dollars to register n Juvenile club and three dollars for the team and they had to be registered by Feb. 5th. 1941. 1 am very sorry to say that this Club did not have time funds to register so therefore, tak- ing his word for (t. we were forced to drop the ramistorilag of this team. which was a shame as we had a lot of good prospect . Fastest times of the season were hung up Saturday as the Victoria Driving Club staged another bang- up racing meet with fire classes be- ing run of! and blanket finrhes featuring nearly every heat cm the program.

Fastest time of the day was 30 1-4 seconds made by Direct L., ln the first heat of the free-for-all pace and equalled in the second quarter of the same race by Silent Muc the race winner. Other times iavcre ex- ceptlonally fast also all bettering previous performances.

Silent, Nae, Lu ty Frisco, Ethel Bellini. Rose Worthy and Sampson Royal were the winners with Lusty F‘r:ls:o and Rose Worthy being the only two to cop in straight heats.

First race called was the Free-for- all Pace with three starters and it took an extra heal ‘£5070 Silent Mac was declared the winner. In the fir t heat. Direct L., Little Pet- er and Silent Mac went away 1n a line. Shortly after tho start Sllout Mac went (o a break and was put out of the running. Direct L. and Little Peter then staged a thrilling race to the wire Direct L. winning by a head.

The Regal Flour Curling Trophy was retained by a rink 0f Summer- slde curlers Friday night at Sum- mer lde when the local team cap- tured their two matches from Char- lottetown and Aloexnl: while A1- berton were chalking up a victory over Charlottetown. Charlottetonvn failed to win a game in (he cum- petltlon. This trophy is played for annually by curlers in their fourth year or less.

At an enjoyable banquet hold at 11 p. m. the trophy was present- ed to the winning Summerslde rink by Mr. B. W. Robinson, M. L. A., President. of the Island Curling As- wclatlon. Also orders for bags of Regal Flour donated by the St. Lawrence Flour Mills and present- ed by Mr. W. W. Lord, local agent were handed fu melnbu-s of (he winning rink and aLso to the run- ner-up Alberton.

A round-table discumlon was held during the banquet leading up to the new plans for the British Con- .o1s Island competition to be play- ed in Charlottetown in Feb. 1942.

This year's competition nlurked the first time that an Alberfon team had competed in any provin- cial Cup play and 1t is to be hop- ed that their representation will be a continuous one. It was also strongly hoped that next season would see O‘Leaiy represented in Llmd Curling circles.

A banquet was also held at fl 0’- clock in the evening‘ after which three teams from Charlottetown took to the ice against rinks from Summer-side with Summerslde win- ning all three gar-rues.
