This action has awakened the agents of the English com anies to the probable loss of a very large and ucrative businesc, and they meet to-morrow to discuss the situation. The largest propor tion of risks in Halifax is now carried by Eng- lish companies, and thece has not beeo heavy loss in the city fora quarter of a cen- tury.

Mrs. Brown's Case. Toronto, Jan. 25.—A most interesting case has come to light here, being that ef Mrs. Brown, of Agnes St., who for years Las suffered from Bright's Disease, the last two of which she epent ia bed. Her feet were swollen so she could not welk, and being affected with paralysis she was taken to the Toronto General Hospital, where, after underguing a lengthened treatment which did her no good, and receiving | nothing in the way of consolation save 4) certificate that she was incurab’e and a/| permit admittiog her to the Home for In- | curables.
