‘Adenauer Given Free Hand

j BONN (Reutersl—Chancellor ‘Adenaucr's Christian Democrat Iparty Tuesday night gave him Ia free hand to negotiate a new coalition government. which he agreed to hand over eventually to a still-unnamed successor.

But informed sources said the 86-year-old chancellor rejected a suggestion made at a party meeting that the question of who will succeed him should be discussed now.

The sources said he did. how-

- ever. promise to step down in time for his successor to pre-I

pare for the 1965 national elec- tlons.

Adenauer was not pinned down to a renewal of the two party coalition of the Christian Democrats and the minority Democrats which col- lapsed last week after only a year in office.
