Residence Bursary Bernadine Hall ($500)

Following are the terms of reference for the above-named bursary:

~ 1. Recipient must be a Third or Fourth-Year student living in Bernardine Hall who has lived there for at least two years. 2. Must have an average of 65% or better in last semester’s work and passing grades in all five subjects. 3. Must write a personal essay about what she/ he has participated in during her/his years in residence. How has she/he helped to promote spirit in Bernardine Hall?; 4. Selection to be made by a committee from the Department of Student Services (com- posed of the Residence Mange or Co-ordinator of Residence Program, Director of Student Services, and one counsellor) with final ap- proval given by the Scholarship and Bursary Committee. 5. Selection to be made in conjunction with other bursaries awarded from the Memorial Bursary Fund. Application forms are available at the Regis- trar’s Office or at Student Services. Closing date fro applications is Friday, February 10, 1995.

Student Health Plan

Attention new full-time students Students who have just started full-time stud- ies in January, please be advised that the deadline to opt out of the Student Health Plan is February 4, 1995. Students may opt out only if they are currently enroled in a comparable health plan. Bring proof of coverage (plan card or verification letter) and student ID to the Student Union Office, 9:00 to 4:00. Please do not wait until fees have been paid, students who have missed the deadline dates are ineli- gible to opt out due to the Student Union insurance deadline dates. If you have any questions regarding the Student Health Plan, please call (566-0530) or drop into the Student Union Office, in the Barn.

Part-time Student Bursaries (2 of $150 each)

3. Must have received passing grades in all courses in the last semester registered at UPEI, 4. Must be working towards a first degree as opposed to upgrading for a second degree. Professional Theatre Work- shop this Weekend

Actress, writer, and director, Trilby Jeeves will hold an acting workshop in Room 108 of the Robertson Library on January 21 and 22. Ms. Jeeves is a graduate of the prestigious Conservatoire d’Art Dramatique in Quebec City. She has appeared in many stage, film, television and video productions.

The workshop will use improvisation to develop concentration, active listening, and complete focus. In addition, Ms. Jeeves will introduce the ‘‘repere method’’ of writing. This is a technique often used by the world- renowned actor and director Robert LePage.

The course costs $50 and runs from 9- 12 and 1-4 on Saturday, January 21 and Sun- day, January 22. No experience is necessary, but comfortable clothing anda sense of fun are recommended. Those interested should con- tact either Joan or Barry Jeeves at 892-9398 or Theatre PEI at 566-0424.

WUSC Symposium Series 1995 Education for All: From Rights to Reality!

**Education for All: From Rights to Reality!’ is the theme of the 1995 WUSC International Development Symposium Series. Two inter- national guest speakers are scheduled to visit Ottawa, Vancouver, Camrose, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Windsor, Toronto, Montreal,

Moncton, Halifax and Charlottetown.

Fatima Friere Dowbor, an educational specialist and teacher from Brazil will share her experiences in teaching in Latin America. John Hardbattle, affiliated with indigenous NGOs in Botswana, will examine the chal- lenges facing indigenous peoples and educa- tion globally.

To coincide with International Devel- opment week in February, WUSC Local Com- mittees across Canada will be organizing con- ferences, workshops, popular education ac-

tivities and other special events on this theme.
