What a meeting we had at Souihport on Wednesday with Div. Commissioner Miss Arsenaull. and Field secretary Mrs. P. Jen- kins and a full pack of Brownies. It was held out of doors. It was much too hot even for Fairies and Elves to be inside. Brown Owl Mrs. Mary MacQuaid and Tawny Owl Mrs. M. Wood called all the Brownies to the Fairy Ring and to collect the Fairy Gold. A new game called the Toothbrush and the Germ was a lot of fun but that wicked germ sneaked in much more often than was good.

Brownies retired to their Fairy homes to complete the darnlng test and all passed. Tweenie Paula Reddin was helped over the step- ping stones to Brownielaiid and was introduced lo the Commis- sioner by Irene Mccarron. Brown- ies Carol Burns. Eleanor Henry, Margaret Annear. Irene McCar- ron, Bernadette Gallant, Judy Rcordon. Bonnie McKic. Arlcnc McDonald, Margaret Dawn Math- eson and Arlene smallwood re- ceived their Golden Bars, the re- sult of their winteris work, and

we all congratulated them and wished them logs of success in obtaining the Golden Hand. All

the Brownies were called to the Pow Wow and' really sounded like Indians instead of little fairies, and the Commissioners spoke briefly on Brownie work. The two Leaders who have given so much time and thought to the winter's programme and in training the children. were to he recommend- ed for Warrants. Congratulations, Leaders. The Guides at Kcnsirigton are proving their usefulness to oth- ers. When Div. Commissioner Mrs.

J. R. Holman Vi.-:if.:d our new Company at Paris Corner she took along five Guides to help.

There are thirteen Guides in the Park Corner company with Miss Eliza Campbell as Leader. They were Very quick to catch on to the knots and already knew the first tests. Games and Guide songs coinpleted is good iiiceting.

Kciisington Guides report prizes for the season's work, Lily of the Valley Patrol, P. L. Ina Larkin, 2nd Marion Humphrey received compasses for running the most efficient Patrol. Beryl Woodside, a compass for being the first to pass the Semaphore test, and El- eanor Bernard was the best all- round Guide. she is to be Com- pany Lcaclcr in the Fall. A splen- did effort. Guides. and I hope that you all have is wonderful time at Camp.

Convention At

A stand against the canvsssers' banquets customarily given before financial drives in this City was taken by the Central Royalty Women's Institute Friday after- noon ln a resolution passed at the annual district convention. at Brackley. The cost of the banquet was. the main factor in their declsioni to object to this policy, and thei resolution which was read by Mrs. Guy Pierce, Brackley, was as fol- lows: Let it be resolved that we women of Central Royalty W. I. object to the large banquets be- ginning esch fund-raising cam- paign, particularly Red Cross, for the following .easons: (a) The cost of feeding the campaign managers and some col- lectors often runs into hundreds of dollars. (b) We are all working people and as such, our money comes by hard work, so that when we give to a worthy cause we waht to feel that our dollars go to that cause and not to feed the collector-. (c) Campaign man'ag;'rs and collectors are given much praise for being public spirited gentle- men. Let. them show their pisblic spirit by helping out these causes

Afternoon Session

During the afternoon ::s.sion Mrs. Robert carter. N. Milton was elect- ed President for the loss District convention which will be held in N. Milton. Mrs. Alton Rodd was elected vice-President and Mrs. Chester Matheson will be Secretary.

At the evening sessio Mr. W. R. Shaw, Deputy Minister of,Agricult- ure was the guest speaker, and Mrs. Malcolm MacLeod, President of the P. E. 1. Women's Institutes, ad- dressed the delegates during the supper hour, observed near the shore under a large tent.

Miss M. Boswell. Assistant super- visor of W. I. work, also spolm to the meeting following the most enjoy- able supper, and showed a display of items suitable for gifts, which could be made by members of the various groups.

In the afternoon. Mr. H. Berry Bugden. Charlottetown, gave a short talk on stage-craft and a demon- stration of stage make-up. Enter- tainment was provided by little Jean Jenlrins.- Brackley. who sang "A Secret.” violinist Miss Joyce Eng- land of West Royalty and Mono- logist Miss Eileen White.

HENRY HOOPEII COLE!

The death occurred at the Pro- vincial Infirmary on May 6th, 1951. of Henry Hooper Coles in his 87th year, after a long illness. He had been confined to his bed for the llast two years. He was the son of John Moore Cole: and Elizabeth Warren. His wife pre- deceased him less than five months ago. He leaves to mourn his loss. one brother Joseph in Ontario; one sister Minnie, Mrs Laveallc, N. J.; four daughters and three sons. (Minnie). Mrs. Gaudin. Mal- den.
