From Drowning At Waterfront

Three-year-old J o h n McGee ‘ was saved from drowning yes- terday morning by department of transport employee Paul Mc- Gonnell. 67 Bayfield St.

The child. the son of Mr. and Mrs. David McGee of King St.. toppled off a Charlottetown wharf into about six feet o water and had disappeared he- neath the surface when McGon- nell. answering the verbal alarm of a workman on a near- by roof. came to his rescue.

McConnell, a strong swimmer. entered the water fully clothed. and pulled the tot to safety. He. recovered w i t. h o u t artificial ‘ respiration. ‘

The department of transport‘ is urging parents to keep their children away from the water front. pointing out that within the past few weeks there have‘ been several potential tragedies on wharfs involving children.
