University Sued

The University of Prince Edward Island is being sued after an employee was injured following a University staff party last year.

Roy Lannigan, a former employee of the University, has filed a suit which claims for damages against the University after he Was struck ‘by -a. car Jast December. Mr. Lannigans claim states that on December 21, 1990 at a staff Christmas party, he was served liquor contrary to*the Liquor Control Act of PEI and that this caused and allowed him to become intoxicated to a point where his judgement was impaired and he was struck by a car while crossing the street.

This past Wednesday, I found myself with some free time, and decided to put a couple of loads through the wash. So off I went to the laundramat with books and dirty clothes. While studying and waiting

for my second load to finish, I spotted this |

‘little bear rolling around in my clothes, laughing and diving all through my clean

gitch. "Hi, I’m Snuggles," he said. So I

went and grabbed a mallet and brained the little idget. Soft clothes is one thing, but

a furry bum through my clean rayon is another!

intoxication of the people at allowed intoxicated people to leave the party.

After Mr. Lannigan left the party, he was struck by a car driven by Ms. Stephane Drake, who is also named in the suit, at the corner of Belvedere Avenue and Maple Avenue in Sherwood while he was trying to cross the road. Mr. Lannigan received head injuries, multiple leg fractures, a dislocated shoulder along with other minor cuts and scrapes.The claim states that Mr. lannigan suffered pain,

loss of income, and loss of

earning potential. aes The suit was filed ate the

courthouse on November 21, 1991 and the University has 20 days after being notified by the sheriff to reply. The University has of yet given no reply to the suit.
