The break-in, the fifth at the supermarket since its opening about two years ago, was discover- ed after police investigated heavy smoke pouring out of its chimney because of a heating defect. About some was stolen in two previous

Expecl Report On llailway. Wage Talks Thursday

OTTAWA, Nov. 25 - (GP) - The report of the Federal Con- ciliation Board on the railway wage dispute is expected to be made public Thursday.

The three-man board under Mr. Justice R. L. Kellock of the su- preme Court of Canada has com- pleted its report and it is being prepared for transmission to the railways and to unions represent- ing 125,000 employees.

The board was set up by the Labor Department to conciliate a dispute involving a series of wage demands and other concessions asked by the unions. Chief de- mand was for a. general wage in- crease of 45 cents an hour.

Eisenhower Names Two Women To Administration

UNITED NATIONS, N. Y., Nov. 25 -- (GP) - Twenty-one West- em Powers including Britain, the United States and Canada tonight agreed unanimously to demand priority in the United Nations for an Indian peace plan on Korea.

The Western Powers apparently decided to push the Indian plan as the best chance of getting a. cease-fire despite the fact Russia has rejected it outright.

The announcement indicated a compromise had been reached be- tween opposing viewpoints in the group which differed over propos- ed amendments to the Indian resolution seeking a, solution of the deadlocked war prisoners is- sue.

Caribou ferry service, a delegation representing Northumberlend Fer- ries Limited is in Ottawa today seeking federili aid to meet ever- increasing public transportation needs.

Headed by Arthur Peake of Charlottetown, Hon. Dougald MaoKinnon Capt. Hunter, the de- legation was at the Parliament Buildings today and conferred with Prince Edward Island mem- bers of the Commons and senate. It will present a brief on the needs of the ferry company to the can- adian Maritime Commission.

While the brief incorporates I request for Federal aid in securing a new and larger ferry than those now in use, it also contains an ap- peal for temporary assistance to handle the mounting volume of freight traffic between Prince Ed- ward and Nova Scotia.

The Prince Edward -Island Div- ision of the Canadian National Railways will be signally honoured here this morning when Mr. C. T. Farmersi Committee To Report litering Plant Issue

That the year 1052 will be re- membered as the best average yield year ever known here was told to potato growers in the group by Mr. Donald A. MacDonald. manager of the Potato Marketing Board. when he was called on to address the meeting of the Queenfs County Federation of Agriculture. The meeting was held yesterday in the Clover Club and was largely attended.

Mr. MacDonald pointed out that with only 33,000 acres planted there would be approximately 10,000 car- loads for export. He mentioned that in another year 12,000 car- loads had been shipped, but in that season over 43,000 acres had been planted.

The question of establishing a private slaughtering plant for the use of farmers arose despite efforts to keep it off the meeting agenda until the annual meeting of the P. E, I. Federation in January. It was finally decided to name a committee from the floor to in- vestigate the matter and report at the January gathering. Mem- bers of the committee are Messrs. A. Stephenson, Fredericton; Al- lison Mayne, Emerald; Pat Lacey, Tracadie Cross; and Bennett Deighsn, Breadalbsne. They were given the authority to add to their numbers two members from each of Prince and King's Counties.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Gordon MacMilian, Corn- wall, as chairman, with Mr. Arthur Johnstone, New London, as secre- tary. Also at the table was Mr. J. Lincoln Dewar, P. E. I. Feder- ation of Agriculture secretary, who answered many questions from the floor.

Potato Board

An important Judgment was given in the supreme Court at summer- side yuterday by Mr. Justice M.tt. McGuigan dealing with regulations under the P. E. 1. Potato Marketing Board. It was found that the Po- tato Board Orders Nos. 2 and fl were invalid and that the Board had no authority to cancel a deal- er's license under these regulations. With regard to contracts entered into by the dealer after the due expiry date of the license, however, (no further license having been issued), it was found these con- tracts were illegal and void.

Mr. J. Loring Rayner appeared as plaintiff in the case. and Mr. N. Bruce MacNaught as defendant. The judgment states that the action was for damages for breach of contract for the sale of a quan- tity of potatoes made between the plaintiff and the defendant. Cer- tain agreements were entered into. in writng, dated April 19, 1951, and Aug. 23, 1951, under which the de- fendant agreed to sell to the plaint- iff certain quantities of potatoes to be delivered to the plaintiff at the pier at Summerside on arrival of -boats between Oct. 25 and Dec. 15 of the year 1951 at certain prices set forth in the several agreements.
