Then why leave it without a voice and give Nova Scotia two? lt is also said P. E. Isiand pays over $200,000 to the revenue more than it re- ceives, exclusive of the Fishery Award. Poor P. E. Island has fallen into bad hands.

Dear Srn,—I take occasion in this letter to speak of the bad name New Perth is unjustly receiving, on account of certain desperadoes who come from other places, and disturb the place of meetings. . The peace-loving residents of this locality were goaded to madness on the evening of January 2nd, hy these characters, whe came in force to disturb our Singing School After frightening the fair sex with lan- guage calculated to suit the lower regions of the unseen world, they proceeded to destroy the furniture of the school. Some of the singing scholars, who endeavor te maintain order and overpower the ruftians, received some slight injuries. This is all the more disgraceful, when it is learned that the head man, in the disturbance, held at. one time, an office in the metropolis of this little Province. Is there nota law against the ravages of such characters? Are civil people to be be abused and in- sulted? Are meetings to be disturbed ; is furniture to be destroyed, and still no action taken against them? There are Penitentiaries in this broad Dominion of ours, which can hold such outlaws; and if speedy efforts are not taken to have them incarcerated in places of confinement, the gallows will certainly rid the people of their presence.
