Deep Sea Fishing Trip

Ahoy Mateys! The Residence Life Committee’s deep sea fishing trip was a big splash hit. Ten brave souls chanced the unpredictable October waters of the Northumberland Strait in the "Glass Tiger II" captained by John MacKay of Beach Point, PEI.

The catch of the day was shark (dog fish that is). David "How Do You Get This Thing off the Hook" Plackburn was the first to haul one in. Robin "I Wanna Get a Fish" Latta hooked the largest dog fish, while all Kent "I Like the Fisherman Look" Ronahan could hook was the bottom. Phil "It Was Just Beginner’s Luck" Grover was definitely fisherman of the day. Phil jigged a wide array of fish including a mackerel, two cod on one line, another cod that was eating a crab, a few dog fish, and even a rock (not a type of fish). Scott "The Caper" Lewis busied himself with dissecting the

fish and feeding the guts to the seagulls. Meanwhile Corey "I’m a Farmer not a Fisherman" Wallace tried to keep his own guts down.

The fishing wasn’t so great for the rest of the crew. Al "Super Dave" Fitzgerald seemed to manage to catch was a few Z’s. The fish seemed to avoid the lures of the red heads on board, but Scott "I

Like to Hook the Bottom" Harper and Monica "I Can’t Wait to Go Fishing Again" Harding had some fun anyways. Cathy "I’m not Going to Puke" Ronahan busied herself with taking pictures of all the fisherpersons and their catch.

All in all, it was a fun day and no one woofed their cookies (although Corey came pretty close). A special thanks to Captain John MacKay for taking the time and energy to take us out and give

us our sea legs. Also thanks to Scott Lewis for taking a car load of people out to Beach Point.
