Sask. Farmers Facing Grain Storage Crisis

Canadian Oil Production At New HigiL

OITAWA. Sept. 2-(ClP)-Can- adian production of crude petrol- eum and natural gasoline reached a record level during June and the first six months of this year. the Bureau at statistics reported to- 035'.

June output. was six per cent. above the previous high during May and more than double the June total last year. In the hall- cear, there was a rise of about 60 per cent compared with a. year earlier. The increases were prin- cipally due to marked gains tor the Leduc and Rcdwater tlelda oi Alberta.

All-Canada output in June was 4.756.710 barrels against. 4.474.183 in May, and 2.181.342 in June.lD50. In the hall-year, 19.9'l0.129-barrels were produced against 12,498,255 in the same period of 1950.

Alberta accounted tor 1tl.l23.711 barrel: in the January-June per- iod compared with 11.782.870 in the similar period of 1950, while the Redwater tield rose sharply in the six-month period to 9.566.581 barrels from 3.934.730. Leduc's cumulative output jumped to 5.- 683.290 barrels from 4,893,137. and Turner Valley dropped to 1.533.758 barrels from 1.723.748.

WELLAND. Ont. Sept. 2 - (OP) - A jury that deliberated 22 minutes late today acquitted Edward Anthony Basset, 49-year- old electrician. of murder in the shotgun slaying last June 16 at his common-law wile.
