On motion of Councillor Hughes it was decided to purease a new watering cart, from DeWolfeSon & Co., Halifax, the cost of which is boteto exceed$350. Councillor Hughes explained that the cart it was proposed to buy will hold 500 gallons and will throw the water from 2& to 29 feet. It will sprivkle the entire width of the street, andthere is a ehut-off on either. side which may be used when necessary
Councillor Horne then brought up the matter of Scott Act enforcement and re- ferred to a report which was in circulation to the effect that the prosecutors had been instructed not to take action against cer tain parties supposed to be selling intox- icants. He regretted the absence from the meeting of the Recorder, as he wished to ask him some questions bearing upon the matter. Councillor Horne, before re- suming his seat, moved the following re- solution :

Therefore Resovived, That this Council do now instruct the prosecutors to vigor- ously enforce the Act from this time for- ward.
Councilor Hooper seconded the motion.

The Board then divided on Councillor Horne’s motion, there appearing in sup- portof it, Horne, Hooper, Hughes and Johnson, and against it, Taylor, Nicholson, Douse and McCarron. Mayor Dawson also voted against the main resolutica for the reasons which he had previously stated.
Meeting adjourned sine die,
after the mail train came into the stauien, an agevt by the name of Matheson, not knowing the way out of the station, went through the wrong door, and crossing the track, fell headlong over the breastwork into the water. He was taken out by the night watchman snd directed to a hotel. As the tide was very high ac the time the uifortunate man was thoroughly soaked with ‘water.
