Supreme Knight to come to Char - ottetown. made his official visit. in those days. transportation to the Island was by steamer from Pt. du Chene N.B. to Summerslde. A committee went to Surnmerside to meet Bro. Flalierty on a special train manned entirely by Knights of Columbus. On his arriv- al at Charlottetown be met with . rousing reception-that evening he delivered an- inspiring address in the Council Chamber which was crowded.

MEMORABLE OCCASION

An inter- esting eolncidence of the supreme Knight's visit was the arrival in Charlottetown at that time of a replica of the ship in which Col- umbus sailed on his voyage of discovery to America. Credit for bringing the supreme Knight to the Maritime Provinces is due to Dr. W.J.P. MacMlllan who extend: ed the invitation while a delegate to the supreme convention in Dav- enport la. During World War 1 a drive was conducted by Knights all over Canada. to raise funds for K. of C. Army Huts. This drive was an outstanding success. In this Prov- ince the drive was under the chair- manship of Louis B. MacMillan and exceeded .its quota by a sub- stantial amount.

In 1920 two new councils were established in this phovince. one in Summerslde and one in Souris. with three councils. the State Council of Prince Edward Island was now established with annual meetings held in the chambers of each council in turn.

ANNIVERSARY BANQUET

The twenty-fifth anniversary of Charlottetown was celebrated by a banquet at the Victoria Hotel on January 18th. 1928. There was a large attendance including a good- ly number of Charter members. Grand Knight, E.J.H. Morrissoy presided. and the guest speaker was Bro. J.J. Johnston. first Grand Knight of the Council.

FORTIETH ANNIVERSARY

Charlottetown Council was celeb- rated on Oct 31st and Nov. lat, 1943. The members were happy to have with them on that occasion Supreme Knight Francis P. Matt- hews who was specially invited to be present for the occasion. A feat- ure of the celebration was the official opening of the K. of C. Hut by the Supreme Knight, This Hut had recently been transferred to the council rooms from another building in the city. On the sec- ond evening of his visit he was guest speaker at a banquet at the Charlottetown Hotel. Here he gave a gripping accou to the British Isles by described his interviews with Prot- estant and Roman Catholic Chap- lains, seeing these chaplains at work than ever of the supreme import- ance of religious influence.

Funeral services for Eupliainln Ann Mallett. widow of the lain Chester Mallett of 11219-77 Avenue. Edmnnton.:Alta. were held Tuesw day, September 11. 1965 at Howard and McBride's Chapel. Rev. A. G. S. Edworthy officiated and inter- ment took place in the Edmon- ton Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Messrs- George M. Benton. William" P. Biownlee, Robert A. MacMillan, Charles H. Sims,Alax M. Stewart. and Lewis Brownlee. The soloist was Mr. Jack Williams.

Mrs. Mallett is survived by one

daughter Hazel. at home: one son Dr. Marshall Mallett of Edmon- ton: two grandsons-Dr. Mallett of Toronto and William Ray Mallett of Edmonton; one sis- ter Miss Christene Corbett. Boston. Mass: a brother Dr. J. Robert Corbett of Clark's Harbor. N.s. Mr- Mallett predeceased her in 1933 and one son Second Lieuten- ant Ray Mallett, R.A.F. was ac- cldcntally killed in a plane crash in England in July. 1918.

The late Mr. Mallett. who died September 11. after a lengthy ill- ness. was the third daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Corbett of Granville. Prince Edward Ise land. After her marriage to Cheat- er Mallett they made ther home in Graham's Road. In 1905. with their three children. they went to Edmonton. which has been the family home since that time.

The Bible study period was car- ried out by several of the mem- bars. The study was conducted by Mrs. Clayton Morrison. assisted by Mrs. Mae Dixon, Mrs. Dunsford. Mrs. Jim Ferguson, Mrs. Lorne Ferguson and Mrs. J- Dixon. The program dealt chief- ly with our newcomers to Canada. Very interesting talks were also given by Mrs. Capwell and Mrs. Stevenson.

The minutes of last meeting were read, approved and signed. Roll call was answered by 14 mem- bers and there were also five visitors present. Community Frriendship Secretary reported six home calls, six hospital calls, 11 cards and four treats. A donation of 81.00 was gratefully received horn Mrs. W. A. MacQuarrle. Subscriptions were received for Missionary Monihlles.
