On Dec. 29, 1935. there passed away one of Kinkoras most estim- able membe a, in the person of Mrs. Patrick J. Trainer. Stricken with a sudden illness on Christmas eve, it soon became apparent that she was nearing the end of her earthly career. - ,

As a particular friend of the late Mrs. Trainor, I wish to pay a small tribute to the many fine character- istics of the lately deceased. On ‘coming. as a stranger to Kinkoro. upwards of thirty years ago, one of the first acqiaintances 1 met was Mrs. Trainor. and I remember well now I seemed to be drawn to her by some irresistible force; it seemed as if kindred spirits had met, and we became friends at that moment, and our friendship has remained stead- fast and unbroken (iOWn through the years until it terminated in her death.

After the death of her husband. she carried on courageously, and succeeded in bringing up her large family, and also her grandchildren. Being blessed with a. wonderful con- stitution, she was an lnve.erate worker till the last, and it seemed fitting that her last act in life was to prepare the loaves of bread for the oven. Although a very busy woman, she still found time to join with her family in their pastimes and pleasures and seemed more like an older sister. In her last illness, she was faithfully attended by her daughter, Miss Jennie, R.N., who did not spare herself, but kept vigil day and night. assisted by the other members of the household. When I saw Mrs. ‘Trainor in her last ill- ness how it grieved me to see no signs of recognition, and as I gazed upon that calm, peaceful counten- ance, what emotions arose within my breast, when I realized that never again would 1 hear the sound of that beloved voice, nor see that smile of welcome when I entered her door. PISQUID WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The regular meeting of the Pis- quid Women's Institute was held at the home of Mrs. Roland Jay on the evening of January 8th., with nine members and three vis- itors present. The Institute warm- ly welcomed three new members. The president, Mrs. Wallace .Birt presided. The meeting opened by s’ ‘ the Institute Carol. Roll call was answered with "A New Year's Resolution." Minugs of last meeting were read and approved. Some bills were ordered paid and some correspondence read by the Secretary. A new book case was put in the school, also locks on the widows. A day was also set to clean school. Mrs. Ollie Jay and Miss Jean Jay were appointed on programme committee for next meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Ward Jay, roll call to'be an- swered with “A Valentine Verse."
