We believe the biggest Panther news of the past week is that we won 'ITAD hockey games in most unusual places . . . the third period, and on paper! The first came in Fredericton on Sun— day afternoon when, trailing 4—3 midway in the final period a goal by Trevor Crawford & a brilliant combin— ation play ending with Doug Currie flipping

period but did so quite confident of a win as we appeared to be the better team and led 3—I. We were later horrified to learn that those pesky SVIU lads scored three late in the game to win out 4—3_. Our scores came from Norman Beck, Trevor Crawford, and Albert Roche. At this x point we thought UPEI should make some sort of motion limiting gamés to 40 minutes as, if this were the case we would have lost but one game this season and that by only one goal. With the w—ekend results we now have a 3—3 record and will have St.F.X'. with us for two games this week- end. 26th when our'A.U.A.A. play starts against St. F.X. The Basketball Lady Panthers split a pair of games in the Mount Allison Invita- tional Tournament on the weekend. We dropped the first 55-33 to the Canadian Senior Women's championship team from Halifax Red Fox, (How does a N.S. team get an Island name like. that?) Colleen Rossiter & Sue Betts led our scorers with 16 & 13. In the consolation round the Lady Panthers had no difficulty in disposing of old rival Mount Al- lison as, substituting freely 'they won 66—44
as all members partici- pated in the scoring & Colleen & Sue again leading the way with
18 & 12. With so many of our team being either freshmen of sopl'mores these games should have given valuableexperience & confidence. We hope Coach George Morrison can arrange other games before the team opens the league season with away games against strong Saint Wary's & St. rat. on the 2.71:?) and 28th.

Congratulations should be extended to Jean Francois Painchaud and 1 Scott Niel who were selected to the All Canadian Soccer Team this week.
Both showed expertise in‘their particular area on the soccer team, each leading the conference at that position. Belated congratulations also go out to Vince Mulligan who was named Coach of the Year in AUAA, while guiding the soccer Panthers to a national 5th ranking. goes to prove that we don't need high priced players to win games. (It'sa pity that the same is not true for the Hockey team.) Perhaps we will see a couple of wins from this team on the weekend.
