According to Premier King's rec- ent dictum the Saunders Govern- ment in this province should have no difficulty in having its claims adjust- ed ior subsidies. "I would not give them a live-cent piece," he declared to governments which were not eith- er Liberal or progressive. Comment- ing on the prospects opened up by this declaration the ilaliisx Herald says, "Ii," say, the old machine were still in power in this Province, the Prime Minister would "give" them public money. Naturally because they were "progressive." But a. new and truly progressive Government like the present Nova Scotia Government, “nothing doing." so iar as Mr. King is concerned.

Last iall the milk suppliers told us that in iace oi the high prices they‘ had to ‘pay for ieeds and the high price oi butter, etc., instilled them in asking 12c per quart ior milk. Today the butter market is flooded with cheap butter and large decreases in mill- ieeds Justiiles the consumer to ‘ask o! the milk supplier to put down his price to 10c a quart or, lower. 1t can now be produced ior that price. Many poor iamilies cannot aiiord to have a suliicient amount o! milk ior their children. Iwould like to hear the opinion oi other citizens on this matter.

The prisoners in Queens consumed ilsh at the rate oi about t: per day and groceries at the rateoi about 03.20 per day. In Prince, curiously enough, the prisoners are not iish eaters, having consumed_cnly $20.90 worth ior the whole year. They are strong on beei, however, com- pared with Queens, the Prince County bee! bill amounting to $729.32 compared with $278.58 ior Queens. Prince grocery bill amounted to about the same as Queens, vis., $3.25 per day-or a total oi $1,185.83.
