action taken or not taken in con-I

nection with alcohol and gaso- me.

Speakers apparently blastedl the government for what seemed obvious pleasure with which gov- ernment members received the news of the increased profits made from the sale of liquor.

The speakers deplored this at- titude. and voWed that the tax on this luxury should have been given a substantial increase. In reference to the increased gaso- line tax. it was felt that this should never have been done. because the use of gasoline in a large measure is part of the means by which many persons manage to make their living. ____._____________

Frank Steele Dies At 74

The death occurred in the Charlottetown Hospital early Sunday morning after a short illness of Frank Steele. 76 Syd< 11031 Street. aged 74. Mr. Steele was a chef by trade and served lll that capacity in many areas of the United States and Canada.

He was always deieiply inter- ested in sport and in his early years was active in both hockey and boxing. Older sport fans will remember him as goalie of the intermediate Victorias. pros vincial champions 1910-1911 and
